What is a remote property manager?

A remote property manager is a professional who oversees and manages real estate properties from a location other than the property itself, often working from home or a central office. Their responsibilities typically include coordinating maintenance and repairs, handling tenant communications, processing rent payments, and ensuring compliance with property regulations. They use digital tools and platforms to perform their duties efficiently without being physically present at the property. This role is especially common for managing multiple properties or properties located in different regions.

What does a remote property manager do?

As a remote property manager, you handle the day-to-day management of a rental property from a remote or virtual location. Your responsibilities typically include explaining lease terms to a new tenant, coordinating any maintenance of the buildings and grounds, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as necessary. You also oversee tax requirements as necessary. You are essentially a landlord with all of the associated duties but are home-based. You may work with a real estate agent to find renters for a site, or you have more than one client and manage several properties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote property manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Property Manager, you need a solid understanding of property management practices, leasing regulations, and financial oversight, usually supported by relevant experience or a real estate/property management certification. Familiarity with property management software (such as AppFolio or Buildium), virtual communication tools, and digital document management systems is essential. Outstanding organizational skills, proactive communication, and problem-solving abilities are crucial soft skills for managing tenants and coordinating with contractors remotely. These skills and qualities are important to ensure efficient operations, tenant satisfaction, and effective oversight of properties from a distance.

How does a remote property manager effectively handle maintenance issues without being on-site?

As a Remote Property Manager, handling maintenance issues requires strong communication and reliable local partnerships. You’ll typically coordinate with trusted vendors or contractors in the property's area, leveraging digital tools to receive photos, updates, and invoices. Clear protocols and responsive communication with both tenants and service providers are essential for timely resolutions. Building a network of reliable local contacts and using property management software can streamline the entire process, ensuring issues are addressed efficiently even from a distance.

Job description

B2B Sales Associate

Location: Cleveland, Ohio (remote-first, with occasional in-office days) · Full-time

About B2B Realty

B2B Realty is an Ohio-based property management firm built for serious real estate investors. With 10 years managing properties in Ohio and a team of 50+, we pair professional, systemize,
operations with investor-first economics. We compete on being the most trusted choice for out-of-state owners who treat their portfolio as a long-term strategy.

We're growing, and we're looking for a driven salesperson to own the front line of that growth.

The Role

As a Sales Associate, you own the sales cycle for our property management services — from engaging with the leads, to consulting on their needs, to closing the deal and handing off a smooth onboarding.

We care most about your ability to sell. If you're a strong B2B closer who's never worked in real estate, but you’re a fast learner, that's fine — we'll teach you the property management side. What we can't teach on the job is drive, follow-through, and the ability to build trust with investors.

What You'll Do

  • Work a pipeline of warm leads — investors and property owners — with your focus on discovery, pitching, and closing, not prospecting.
  • Manage the initial pipeline engagement, discovery calls, and meetings to understand
  • each prospect's portfolio and needs.
  • Deliver compelling pitches, service walkthroughs, handle objections — and close.
  • Follow up and nurture the relationship over weeks and months, if needed.
  • Keep your pipeline and every client interaction accurate and current in our CRM
  • (LeadSimple).
  • Report on activity, pipeline health, market signals, and client feedback to leadership.
  • What You Bring
  • Proven B2B sales experience with a track record of hitting and exceeding targets.
  • Real estate or property management experience is a plus, not a requirement.
  • A real estate license, or the drive to earn one. You're either actively licensed in Ohio, or ready to complete Ohio's pre-licensing requirements with our support shortly after starting. Ohio law requires a license to quote fees, advise owners, run market analyses, or negotiate terms, so licensure is essential to fully perform this role.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and closing ability with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Disciplined follow-up and pipeline management.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote-first, fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort with CRM and sales tools; we'll train you on the property management specifics.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $6,000 - $7,000 a month
  • Competitive commission for each new unit added
  • Parental leave benefits
  • Annual paid leave entitlement
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage
  • Clear path for growth and advancement as we expand beyond Ohio

This is a full-time, remote-first role based in Ohio, but it should be noted that the employee is required to come to the office on certain days as needed, so you'll need to be based in (or relocating to) the Cleveland area.
