Position Title: Commissioning Project Manager
Position Location: Remote - Monroe, LA. Must be located near a major airport.
Travel Requirements: Up to 50% domestic travel. Must have a valid driver's license and ability to rent vehicles.
JOB SUMMARY
The Commissioning Project Manager provides technical support and leadership to plan, schedule and execute full life cycle commissioning of critical facilities. This person participates in the MEP design review process and participates in functional testing of complex electrical and mechanical systems.
The Commissioning Project Manager is responsible for supporting all aspects of a project. This person will work as part of the project team and interact closely with the owners, designers, contractors, subcontractors and other trades on projects in mission critical environments.
The role may assist with developing and evaluating bid proposals, developing commissioning plans and schedules, facilitating communication and ensuring compliance with owner's requirements, applicable laws, and specifications.
This person will collaborate with design engineers, construction contractors, equipment vendors, client staff and the DLB commissioning team to test, validate and make operational newly installed and operational electrical and mechanical systems including those in mission critical facilities.
The Commissioning Project Manager will receive limited directions on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects or assignments. Will execute commissioning and assist project leadership on projects of complex scope. Will work independently or under limited supervision.
This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage all Elements of Commissioning Projects (50%)
  • Assist with pre-construction elements including project initiation, kickoff, RFIs and submittals
  • Coordinate and support resource and material forecasting
  • Develop, manage and monitor schedule
  • Participate in, schedule or lead project meetings
  • Coordinate / perform QA / QC and Cx plans and specifications to ensure completion in accordance with the project scope and appropriate guidelines and manuals
  • Communicate and coordinate project staffing needs.
  • Coordinate or oversee start-up, cutover, pre-functional or functional testing and project closeout
  • Onboard project team for mobilization
  • Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead and assist in preparation of final commissioning report for submission to client

Monitor and Control Project Financials (15%)
  • Prepare, forecast and monitor project budgets, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilization and maintain overall responsibility for the profitability of the project
  • Communicate with the client when additional fees / change orders are required
  • Identify potential project risks and develop / implement strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines

Manage Stakeholder Relations (15%)
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, presentations and the overall marketing efforts of the firm
  • Assist in the promotion of the firm, service and expertise to existing or potential clients
  • Maintain client relationship to ensure an ongoing positive relationship and work with clients to identify and develop new projects
  • Support contact for clients and build effective, long-term client relationships
  • Ensure client satisfaction through active communication

Perform On-site Commissioning Activities (10%)
  • On-site inspection, validation, functional testing, verification and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Participate in factory witness testing and observe startup activities
  • Use technical equipment to perform testing
  • Direct vendors / contractors in the execution of the testing

Develop Testing Plans and Procedures for Complex Projects (5%)
  • Development of commissioning plans
  • Prepare pre-functional checklists
  • Prepare functional performance test scripts

Review Construction Related Design Documents, Drawings and Specifications (5%)
  • Review shop drawings and submittals
  • Review sequence of operations
  • Assist in commissioning focused design reviews

Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction or related discipline
