Category Analyst for the Commercial Operations Team

We're looking for a Category Analyst for the Commercial Operations Team to play a critical role in powering our commercial strategy with accurate data, meaningful insights, and strong operational execution. This role is ideal for someone who is analytically curious, highly organized, and excited to support a fast-growing, mission-driven organization.
About the Role
Reporting to our Director, Commercial Insights & Product Strategy, the Category Analyst supports category growth by delivering data-driven insights and recommendations to improve business performance. This role analyzes consumer, shopper, retail, and syndicated market data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within assigned product categories. The Category Analyst partners closely with Sales, Marketing, and Retail customers to develop category strategies that drive sales, market share, and profitability.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, curious about shopper behavior, and skilled at connecting data to compelling business stories that drive retailer and brand growth.
The salary range for this role will be $75,000 to $77,000.
What You'll Do
Category & Business Analytics (70%)
  • Analyze category, brand, consumer, and retailer performance using syndicated data sources (Circana/IRI, NielsenIQ, SPINS, etc.).
  • Develop actionable insights and recommendations to support category growth strategies.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, pricing, promotions, assortment, and distribution performance.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and recurring business reports.
  • Support data collection, validation, and integration from multiple internal and external data sources.
  • Maintain documentation of reporting processes, business rules, and analytical methodologies.
  • Measure the effectiveness of shopper marketing campaigns across digital, in-store, omnichannel, and retail media platforms.
  • Analyze shopper insights and purchase behavior to identify opportunities for increased engagement and conversion.
  • Support development of customer presentations that integrate category insights with shopper behavior trends.

General Admin - Core Responsibilities (30%)
  • Provide administrative support to the commercial team to ensure smooth execution of initiatives
  • Coordinate marketing projects, timelines, and deliverables across internal teams and external partners (trade shows and external PR initiatives)
  • Liaise with vendors, agencies, and printers to coordinate assets and timelines
  • Assist with managing invoices, purchase orders, and marketing budgets
  • Coordinate and Support all Trade Show events with vendors (GES), trade associations, marketing & sales materials.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-3 years of experience in category management, sales analytics, market research, or CPG analytics.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience manipulating large datasets and creating executive-level presentations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry
  • Knowledge of NielsenIQ, Circana (IRI), SPINS, Numerator, or retailer POS data
  • Familiarity with space planning tools (JDA, Blue Yonder, Apollo, etc.)
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Superset, or other data visualization tools
