Job description

The Project Manager performs low to moderately complex projects in accordance to the SPP34 Series and delegated approval to work on IT projects through the IT Project Approval Board (PAB) and TVA Project Review Board, if applicable. This position is required to perform necessary training as documented in the SPP 34 series. This IT project manager position has SOX Control requirements for both the employee and the manager.

  • Target W2 Pay Rate:ย Up to $78.00/hour (time & half for overtime)
  • Duration:ย 12 months
  • Hours:ย 8:00 am โ€“ 5:00 pm, Monday โ€“ Friday
  • Work Status:ย  May be remoteย 
  • There may be some infrequent travel required to attend mandatory IT-level meetings and/or quarterly all hands meetings and support major project milestones or workshops.


This position is the primary point of contact for each project and assumes the leadership role in managing the project to ensure safety, environmental, quality, budget, and schedule goals are met, or functions within a larger project.
The Project Manager will apply professional principles, practices, and techniques; may supervise others; will set direction and prioritize resources to meet TVAโ€™s objectives; is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, monitoring and controlling, quality, implementation, execution, and completion, within cost and schedule, of assigned projects. Resource availability and project objectives will guide and inform decisions.

Successful project outcomes are achieved through collaboration, negotiation, and influencing of assigned project teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders, over whom the Project Manager may have no formal authority.
- Bachelorโ€™s degree in information technology, engineering, business management, technical field, or equivalent education, training and/or related work experience.
- Requires 5-years utility project manager experience, or equivalent functional area work experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Requires knowledge of Information Technology project management techniques, experience to solve complex problems, and practical experience in project scoping and cost estimating.
- Requires ability to analyze complex technical problems and determine the most effective solution.
CAPM required, PMP expected
