Job description

Patient Education Liaisonย

Location:ย Remote within assigned geography; significant regional travelย requiredย

Position Summaryย

At Praxis, we are building more than a commercial organization-we are building a patient-centered ecosystem that helps individuals and families access life-changing therapies with speed, empathy, and excellence.ย

The Patient Education Liaison (PEL) serves as the primary field-based patient support partner within an assigned geography, helping patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers navigate the journey from prescription through therapy initiation and ongoing treatment. The PEL delivers disease and therapy education, helps address access-related barriers, and partners closely with providers, specialty pharmacies, and internal teams to supportย timelyย treatment initiation.ย

In addition to supporting individual patients and providers, the PEL serves as a trusted resource for complex patient situations, contributes field insights that help shape patient support strategies, and drives continuous improvement in the patient experience. This individual is expected toย operateย with a high degree of autonomy, judgment, and accountability while influencing outcomes across a diverse group of stakeholders. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, problem-solving, and a deep commitment to helping patients access and remain on therapy.ย

Primary Responsibilitiesย

Patient Education & Supportย

  • Serve as the primary field-based educational resource for patients and caregivers, providing disease and therapy education and guiding them through onboarding and treatment initiation.ย
  • Build trusted relationships with patients and families while supporting treatment readiness and helping them navigate the patient journey.ย

Access & Barrier Resolutionย

  • Proactivelyย identifyย and address access-related barriers that may delay therapy initiation, partnering with provider offices, specialty pharmacies, patient support services, and internal stakeholders toย facilitateย resolution.ย
  • Monitor patient progression through onboarding and access processes, serving as a trusted resource for complex cases and escalating issues asย appropriate.ย

Provider & Cross-Functional Partnershipย

  • Develop strong relationships with healthcare providers and office staff, educating them on patient support resources, onboarding processes, and available access solutions.ย
  • Partner closely with Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Specialty Pharmacy, and other stakeholders to address patient needs and improveย the patientย experience.ย

Business & Organizational Contributionย

  • Share field insights andย identifyย trends that inform patient support strategies, process improvements, and best practices.ย
  • Participate inย launchย readiness activities, field initiatives, and special projects that support successful therapy initiation and patient outcomes.ย
  • Maintainย accurateย documentation, analyze territory performance, and take ownership for achieving patient support goals.ย

Required Qualificationsย

  • Bachelor's degree.ย
  • Typicallyย 8+ years of experience working as a clinical educator, reimbursement specialist, patient services professional, nurse educator, rare disease specialist, or related healthcare field.ย
  • Demonstrated experience supporting patients through complex access and reimbursement pathways.ย
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing complex patient access and reimbursement situations.ย
  • Strong understanding of insurance and the access process, specialty pharmacy distribution models, prior authorizations, appeals, and financialย assistanceย programs.ย
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes across providers, specialty pharmacies, patient support services, and internal cross-functional stakeholders.ย
  • Experience serving as a trusted resource, mentor, trainer, or informal leader within a field-based organization.ย
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.ย
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned geography (approximately 50-75%).ย

Preferred Qualificationsย

  • Experience supporting launches of specialty or rare disease therapies with a pharmaceutical/manufacturer program.ย
  • Clinicalย backgroundย such as RN, NP, PA, PharmD, or equivalent healthcare experience.ย
  • Experience supporting patients with neurological or central nervous system disorders.ย
  • Experience contributing to the development of field tools, educational resources, onboarding programs, or operational processes.ย
  • Experience leading regional initiatives, special projects, or field excellence efforts.ย

Praxis Phenotypeย

The ideal candidate is a builder who thrives in ambiguity, embraces accountability, andย operatesย with both compassion and urgency. They are energized by solving complex problems,ย advocating forย patients, and working across organizational boundaries to achieve meaningful outcomes. They are viewed as a trusted partner by patients, providers, and colleagues and consistently contribute beyond their individual territory to strengthen the broader patient experience.ย

Physical and Mental Requirementsย

The physical and mental requirements of our roles include but are not limited to regular use of a computer, devices or other office equipment, clear communication, and occasional movement.ย You'llย need comfort with screen work, basic hand coordination, and focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.ย

Compensation & Benefitsย

At Praxis, we believe that taking care of our people (and their people) is important, so we provide a world-class benefits package to help you thrive. This includes 99% of the premium paid for medical,ย dentalย and vision plans. We also provide company-paid life insurance, AD&D, disability benefits, and voluntary plans to personalize your coverage.ย

Thinking about the future? We match dollar-for-dollar up to 6% on eligible 401(k) contributions and sweeten the deal with long-term stock incentives and ESPP. We provide a discretionary quarterly bonus, an extremely flexible wellness benefit, generous PTO, paidย holidaysย and company-wide shutdowns.ย

Not to mention,ย you'llย also be joining a phenomenal crew of colleagues who are smart,ย engagedย and inspiring. Weย aimย high, collaborate hard, and produce results.ย Let'sย achieve the impossible together!ย
