Summary

The Manager, Project Success, is responsible for ensuring the strategic direction for how project support is delivered across the organization, ensuring consistency in process adoption, issue escalation, and team performance. This role ensures complex initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with organizational goals. The Manager/Director partners with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, resolve systemic challenges, and ensure that all projects are positioned to meet or exceed expectations. As a people leader, the role is accountable for leading and developing a team of Project Success Managers (PSMs) who serve as the primary operational support resource for field and project teams. It is also responsible for the professional development, performance, and effectiveness of the PSM team.

Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

• Manage a team of Project Success Managers across assigned regions or portfolios.

• Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones, and deliver timely feedback and performance reviews.

• Foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture focused on accountability, continuous learning, and service excellence.

Process Improvement & Management

• Lead the development and rollout of best practices, playbooks, and toolkits that project staff use in the field.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by synthesizing lessons learned across projects into actionable process enhancements.

• Maintain a high-level view of project portfolio health, identifying systemic risks and patterns that require escalation or intervention.

• Champion adoption of project management systems, tools, and documentation standards across the team.

• Partner with Project Managers and functional leaders to anticipate project needs and proactively deploy PSM support.

• Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) across departments.

Risk and Finance Management

• Review and analyze project performance data, financial metrics, and operational dashboards to guide PSM priorities.

• Establish and refine escalation frameworks, so issues are surfaced and resolved at the appropriate level of the organization.

• Develop and maintain reporting frameworks, KPIs, and dashboards that track the effectiveness of the PSM function.

Strategic Alliance

• Represent the PSM team in executive-level reviews, providing insight into project health trends, risks, and opportunities.

• Serve as the primary liaison between the PSM function and senior leadership, Operations, Project Controls, Engineering, and Construction.

• Collaborate with HR and Training teams to ensure workforce readiness and adoption of new processes.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in project management, quality management, or a related field

• A Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in project management, quality management, or project delivery, including prior people management experience.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment.

• Strong track record of driving process improvement and operational consistency across complex, multi-project portfolios.

• Exceptional communication, facilitation, and executive presence skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

• Experience managing cross-functional relationships and acting as a strategic partner to senior leadership.

• Proficiency in project management tools, financial reporting systems, and performance dashboards.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project), data mining, and technical reporting.

Preferred:

• Ability to develop KPIs and visual management techniques to track improvements and communicate results to leaders

• Experience with Value Stream Mapping (VSM) or process mapping

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
