Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking an experienced Director, Enterprise Architecture & Engineering to serve as a senior technical leader, Solution Architect, subject matter expert, and strategic advisor supporting DecisionPoint's Federal technology portfolio, special programs, corporate technical capabilities, and growth initiatives.

This position is designed to provide DecisionPoint with a highly experienced technical leader who can be deployed where their expertise creates the greatest value. The Director will lead special technical programs and strategic initiatives, provide direct technical leadership and delivery support on Federal contracts, advise program and corporate leadership on complex technology challenges, and serve as a senior Solution Architect supporting DecisionPoint's growth and capture organization.

A significant component of this position will be supporting DecisionPoint's growth and solution development activities. The Director will help translate Federal customer requirements and mission challenges into differentiated, technically sound, and executable solutions. The Director will participate throughout the business development lifecycle, including opportunity assessment, capture, solutioning, technical writing, proposal development, technical reviews, oral presentations, customer engagements, and post-award transition.

The Director will also help strengthen DecisionPoint's corporate technical capabilities by developing reusable solution architectures, technical approaches, reference architectures, white papers, technology roadmaps, solution briefs, and thought leadership. The individual will bring lessons learned from program delivery into Growth while helping ensure solutions developed during capture can be successfully implemented following award.

Depending on organizational priorities, the Director may serve as the technical lead, chief architect, chief engineer, or senior technical advisor for a major program; provide advisory support to existing programs; lead enterprise architecture or engineering initiatives; evaluate and resolve complex technical challenges; support modernization and transformation efforts; or contribute technical expertise to strategic pursuits.

The Director will bring broad expertise across enterprise architecture, systems engineering, cloud computing, cybersecurity, Zero Trust, infrastructure, networks, automation, DevSecOps, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), and emerging technologies. The individual will help DecisionPoint develop secure, scalable, resilient, and mission-focused solutions while translating complex technical requirements into executable strategies and measurable mission outcomes.

The successful candidate will be capable of operating at both the strategic and hands-on technical levels, communicating effectively with executives and technical teams, and moving between corporate initiatives, customer delivery, technical advisory assignments, and growth activities as DecisionPoint's priorities evolve.

This is a hybrid position, with in-person meetings at DecisionPoint offices in Reston, Virginia, and Arlington, Virginia, as required. Upon future contract award and assignment to a program, travel will be required based on program and customer needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Strategic Initiatives, Technical Projects, and Special Projects: Lead high-priority technical initiatives, modernization efforts, architecture assessments, technology evaluations, and other special assignments identified by DecisionPoint executive leadership.
  • Program and Contract Delivery: Provide direct technical leadership on Federal programs and contracts, including serving as a lead architect, chief engineer, technical director, senior subject matter expert, or similar technical leadership role based on program needs.
  • Enterprise Technical Advisory Support: Advise Program Managers, technical leaders, solution teams, and executives on architecture, engineering, cybersecurity, modernization, technology strategy, technical performance, and complex technology challenges.
  • Solution Architecture and Growth: Serve as a senior Solution Architect supporting strategic Federal pursuits and apply extensive Federal technology experience to capture, solutioning, technical strategy, proposals, oral presentations, customer engagements, and transition planning.
  • Technical Writing and Thought Leadership: Develop high-quality technical proposal content, architecture narratives, white papers, solution briefs, technical strategies, roadmaps, and reusable corporate intellectual capital that strengthen DecisionPoint's technical capabilities and competitive positioning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Special Technical Programs and Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead special technical programs and high-priority technology initiatives assigned by DecisionPoint executive leadership.
  • Serve as a senior technical subject matter expert who can be deployed to address complex architecture, engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, network, application, data, and modernization challenges.
  • Lead enterprise architecture assessments, engineering studies, technology evaluations, alternatives analyses, and modernization planning efforts.
  • Develop enterprise technology strategies, architecture roadmaps, modernization plans, and recommendations aligned with customer mission requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Assess emerging technologies and determine their applicability, maturity, risk, integration requirements, and potential mission or business value.
  • Lead strategic initiatives involving cloud transformation, Zero Trust, cybersecurity modernization, AI/ML, automation, DevSecOps, data modernization, infrastructure transformation, and other emerging technologies.
  • Develop recommendations that balance innovation, cybersecurity, performance, interoperability, cost, resilience, and operational sustainability.
  • Support technical recovery, remediation, or transformation efforts for programs experiencing complex engineering, architecture, performance, integration, or technology challenges.
  • Lead cross-functional technical initiatives requiring coordination among engineering teams, program leadership, corporate functions, technology partners, and executive leadership.

Program and Contract Delivery

  • Serve in direct technical leadership roles on DecisionPoint Federal programs when required by organizational, program, or customer needs.
  • Serve as a lead architect, chief engineer, technical director, senior systems engineer, or subject matter expert based on the requirements of specific programs and assignments.
  • Design and oversee enterprise architectures spanning cloud, cybersecurity, networks, infrastructure, applications, data, systems integration, and related technology domains.
  • Lead systems engineering and technical integration activities across multidisciplinary teams and complex enterprise environments.
  • Design and develop solutions to complex application, infrastructure, system administration, networking, cybersecurity, cloud, and integration challenges.
  • Develop high-level and detailed technical designs, architecture documentation, technology roadmaps, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), engineering recommendations, and other technical artifacts.
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical planning sessions, engineering reviews, design discussions, and modernization strategy development.
  • Perform or oversee engineering trade studies, root cause analyses, technical assessments, alternatives analyses, and technology evaluations.
  • Provide technical oversight for software development, cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, automation, DevSecOps, systems integration, and lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, engineering teams, cybersecurity personnel, software teams, infrastructure teams, corporate leadership, customers, and industry partners to successfully deliver enterprise technology solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level technical briefings, architecture recommendations, modernization strategies, and decision-support materials.
  • Support program transitions and new program startups by establishing technical governance, validating architectures, identifying technology risks, and developing technical roadmaps and implementation priorities.
  • Travel to customer, program, partner, and other locations as required to support future contract assignments, technical delivery, transitions, customer engagement, and other business requirements.

Enterprise Technical Advisory

  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to DecisionPoint executives, Program Managers, technical leaders, and delivery teams.
  • Provide independent technical assessments and recommendations for programs requiring specialized expertise or additional senior technical leadership.
  • Advise programs on enterprise architecture, systems engineering, cloud, cybersecurity, Zero Trust, infrastructure, networks, DevSecOps, automation, AI/ML, data, and emerging technology considerations.
  • Review proposed architectures and technical solutions for scalability, interoperability, security, resilience, performance, maintainability, cost effectiveness, and mission alignment.
  • Help programs identify technical risks, architecture gaps, integration challenges, technical debt, modernization opportunities, and potential improvements.
  • Support resolution of complex technical problems by conducting root cause analysis, evaluating alternatives, and developing actionable engineering recommendations.
  • Advise program leadership on technology investment priorities, modernization sequencing, architecture decisions, and lifecycle considerations.
  • Help establish reusable engineering standards, architecture practices, technical review processes, reference architectures, solution patterns, and technology guidance across DecisionPoint.
  • Provide technical guidance during significant program decisions, modernization initiatives, technology selections, and architectural changes.
  • Mentor architects, engineers, technical leads, and other technical personnel, helping strengthen DecisionPoint's internal technical leadership capabilities.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and reuse of successful technical approaches, architectures, lessons learned, and engineering practices across the company's portfolio.

Solution Architecture and Growth

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for DecisionPoint's Growth organization, supporting strategic Federal pursuits from early opportunity identification and capture through proposal submission, oral presentations, award, transition, and execution.
  • Participate in and lead technical solutioning sessions, working with Capture Managers, Proposal Managers, operational leaders, technical SMEs, technology partners, and executive leadership to translate customer mission requirements into differentiated and executable solutions.
  • Analyze Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals, Requests for Quotations, Performance Work Statements, Statements of Work, and other acquisition materials to identify technical requirements, dependencies, risks, opportunities, staffing implications, and solution requirements.
  • Develop end-to-end solution architectures addressing enterprise modernization, cloud and hybrid cloud, cybersecurity, Zero Trust, infrastructure, networking, application modernization, DevSecOps, automation, AI/ML, data, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop technical concepts and solution frameworks that integrate people, processes, technologies, tools, governance, security, service delivery, and performance management into cohesive approaches.
  • Serve as a technical strategist during capture, helping identify customer technology challenges, mission priorities, solution gaps, technical discriminators, risks, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Develop technical strategies and approaches that clearly articulate how proposed technologies and methodologies will improve mission performance, security, resilience, efficiency, scalability, and customer outcomes.
  • Lead technical solution reviews and challenge sessions to ensure proposed approaches are technically sound, compliant, differentiated, scalable, secure, cost conscious, and executable.
