Our payment products include merchant acquiring services, a proprietary gateway, ACH processing, fraud & chargeback tools, analytics, and other value-add services. Maverick's team includes underwriting, risk management, compliance & legal, technology & product development, on-boarding, customer support, information technology, and more.
About the Position: Under the supervision of the VP of Risk & Underwriting, the Risk & Underwriting Program Manager ensures key initiatives across risk, underwriting, and compliance remain visible, prioritized, and progressing. This role is responsible for driving execution, tracking progress, and coordinating cross-functional efforts to support the operational goals of all three departments.
  • Coordinate and maintain the Risk, Underwriting, and Compliance initiatives roadmap, ensuring key projects remain visible, prioritized, and aligned with department and company goals.
  • Support execution of cross-functional projects by defining scope, milestones, dependencies, and success metrics
  • Track progress across initiatives, identify risks or blockers early, and escalate issues as needed to support timely resolution
  • Partner with Risk, Underwriting, and Compliance leadership to understand priorities and reflect sequencing changes in project tracking and reporting
  • Track and report progress against established KPIs and operational targets in coordination with department leadership
  • Facilitate regular status updates, dashboards, and executive-level reporting to provide clear visibility into progress, timelines, and outcomes
  • Serve as a point of coordination between Risk, Underwriting, Compliance, and partner teams to support alignment and communication
  • Coordinate third-party vendor activities, including scheduling demos, preparing agendas, tracking action items, and following up on commitments
  • Support vendor discussions by documenting needs, feedback, and dependencies related to Risk, Underwriting, and Compliance initiatives
  • Support operational effectiveness by maintaining documentation, workflows, and basic program management processes within the departments
  • Ensure initiatives appropriately consider regulatory, compliance, and risk requirements by coordinating with subject-matter experts.
  • Provide contextual input on risk, underwriting, or compliance considerations to support project planning and sequencing
  • Review and offer feedback on proposed policies, controls, or workflow changes for awareness and alignment with risk, underwriting, and compliance practices
  • Assist with documenting and clarifying regulatory or compliance requirements as they relate to program initiatives
  • Support audits, examinations, or internal reviews by coordinating documentation, timelines, and project context when requested
  • Share observations or summaries of emerging risk, underwriting, or regulatory trends to support future planning discussions
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of merchant payment industry experience with direct risk, underwriting, or compliance experience.
  • Experience with TSYS, First Data and similar merchant processing applications.
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing roadmaps, prioritizing work, and tracking delivery across multiple initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Strong program and project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and drive multiple initiatives forward simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Adept at handling a variety of tasks and shifting priorities
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, business requirements, and operational inputs to inform program prioritization and execution.
  • Working knowledge of risk, underwriting, and compliance principles to effectively support and guide cross-functional initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to track progress, manage dependencies, and ensure commitments and deliverables are met
