What are Remote Product Operations?

Remote Product Operations refer to the process of managing and optimizing the workflows, tools, and communication involved in developing, launching, and maintaining products, all from a remote or distributed work environment. Professionals in this role act as a bridge between product managers, engineering, and other teams to ensure smooth product lifecycle execution, even when teams are not co-located. They focus on streamlining processes, tracking key metrics, and facilitating collaboration across time zones and geographies. This role is increasingly important as more companies adopt remote or hybrid work models.

How does a Remote Product Operations professional typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development?

As a Remote Product Operations professional, you’ll frequently work with product managers, engineers, designers, and customer support teams to streamline workflows and ensure that projects stay on track. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential, as you’ll serve as a bridge between various teams to identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements. While working remotely, leveraging digital tools for collaboration and information sharing is crucial to maintaining alignment and momentum across dispersed teams.

Familiarity with tools like Jira, Asana, product analytics platforms, and collaboration software such as Slack or Zoom is typically required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving abilities, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for remote teamwork and efficient operations. These skills and qualities enable seamless product development, effective cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive projects forward in a distributed work environment.

Job description

Overview
We are seeking a Manager, Product Operations & Delivery to drive the execution of our product roadmap across ViaPath's enterprise Offender Management System (OMS) platform. This role serves as the operational backbone of the product organization-ensuring that strategy is translated into clear, actionable, and high-quality delivery work.
You will lead the Product Analyst function and oversee the systems, processes, and standards that enable effective backlog management, requirements quality, and cross-functional alignment. This is a highly collaborative role that partners closely with Product, UX, Engineering, QA, Implementation, and Support teams to ensure product initiatives are well-defined, development-ready, and successfully delivered.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of product operations, delivery execution, and team leadership, and who enjoys bringing structure and clarity to complex software environments.
This is a remote based position based anywhere in the contiguous United States.
Responsibilities
Product Delivery & Backlog Management
  • Translate approved product roadmap initiatives into structured, trackable delivery work (epics, features, user stories) within Jira
  • Maintain a well-organized, transparent backlog aligned to roadmap themes and priorities
  • Ensure end-to-end traceability between roadmap initiatives and delivery artifacts in Jira and Confluence

Requirements Quality & Readiness
  • Establish and enforce standards for high-quality requirements, including clarity, completeness, testability, and dependency management
  • Lead backlog refinement sessions to ensure all work meets "ready for development" criteria
  • Partner with UX, Engineering, and QA to clarify functional intent and resolve gaps early in the delivery lifecycle

Team Leadership & Enablement
  • Manage and mentor a team of Product Analysts responsible for functional design, user stories, and documentation
  • Provide coaching, workload planning, and performance management to ensure high-quality output and team growth
  • Foster consistency in documentation practices, tooling usage, and delivery standards
  • Feedback Synthesis & Continuous Improvement
  • Aggregate and analyze feedback from Support, Implementation, and other customer-facing teams
  • Identify trends, root causes, and opportunities, translating insights into actionable backlog items
  • Recommend priorities, scope tradeoffs, and improvements to product leadership based on operational data

Release Coordination & Communication
  • Coordinate release readiness activities, ensuring scope completion and stakeholder alignment
  • Support release validation and ensure delivered functionality meets defined acceptance criteria
  • Draft and publish clear, accurate release notes and supporting product communications
  • Develop internal enablement materials such as feature summaries and user guidance

Operational Excellence
  • Maintain organized, accessible documentation in Confluence, including requirements, workflows, and decision logs
  • Track and escalate risks, gaps, and cross-team dependencies to maintain delivery momentum
  • Continuously improve processes related to backlog management, documentation, feedback intake, and release communication

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent related experience in Business Analysis, Product Operations, Software Delivery, Information Systems, or related fields will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in product analysis, functional analysis, business analysis, or software delivery support within enterprise software environments with a minimum of 2 years of experience directly managing analysts or leading a requirements-focused function, including coaching, performance management, and workload planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business needs into structured user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional documentation suitable for software delivery.
  • Strong experience managing backlogs and work tracking in tools such as Jira and maintaining structured documentation in Confluence (or comparable platforms).
  • Proven ability to synthesize feedback from Support, Implementation, and other customer-facing teams and convert it into actionable product work with clear recommendations.
  • Excellent writing, documentation, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience collaborating closely with UX, Engineering, and QA to ensure functional intent is understood, testable, and delivered as expected.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive clarity across teams, maintain consistent follow-through, and operate confidently in a decision-support role to product leadership.
  • Experience with corrections or justice-related software workflows preferred but not required.
