Job description

About Mimecast

The work people build is worth protecting, and it's harder to protect than it used to be. AI agents now move at machine speed with human-level access, and a small slip-up can become a very public one. We disrupt cybercriminal activity before that happens. We think fast, go big, and always demand more of ourselves. We work hard, deliver, and repeat. We grow with real determination and put success well within reach. We push each other to be better and expect to be pushed back, in a community built on respect, where everyone is counted. Work Protected.

Overview

Product Operations is looking for a Director, Product Operations to own and evolve the operating backbone of Mimecast's Product and R&D organization-the systems, frameworks, and cadences that let product teams plan with clarity and execute with discipline. Reporting to the Senior Director Product Strategy & Operations, this is a function-defining role: you will set the standard for how Product Operations works at Mimecast, from operating rhythm and planning cycles to tooling strategy, reporting frameworks, and PM enablement. You will lead a cross-functional team and act as a trusted partner to Product and R&D leadership.

This is the right role for someone who has built Product Operations at scale, leads through influence as much as authority, and is energized by defining what operational excellence looks like and making it real. This is a remote position based in Canada.

What You'll Do

  • Own the Product Operations strategy, operating model, planning frameworks, and organizational rhythms that enable Product and R&D to perform at their highest potential.

  • Design and lead the end-to-end planning cycle-from annual goal setting and quarterly planning to capacity reviews and in-quarter operating cadences-aligning strategy and execution across Product, R&D, and GTM.

  • Anticipate organizational, delivery, and capability risks; design proactive interventions; and advise the Senior Director of Product Operations and product leadership on decisions that shape the function.

  • Own the Product toolchain strategy, including planning, intake, and roadmapping tools; establish governance and data standards; lead transitions; and drive adoption at scale.

  • Champion AI-powered workflows that improve how the product organization plans, documents, and delivers.

  • Translate complex operational data into executive-ready narratives, define metrics for Product Ops maturity and delivery effectiveness, and maintain reliable visibility into team capacity and squad assignments.

  • Support financial planning and budget operations by providing accurate inputs that inform investment decisions.

  • Lead continuous improvement and structured change management across planning, intake, delivery, reporting, and enablement, ensuring new ways of working achieve measurable adoption.

  • Set the standard for product management practice through onboarding, enablement programs, capability-building initiatives, and a current knowledge base of templates, playbooks, decision frameworks, and process guides.

  • Serve as the senior operational partner across Product, Engineering, Design, GTM, and Finance, facilitating executive forums and building the relationships needed to surface issues and drive alignment early.

What You'll Bring

  • Deep, progressive experience in Product Operations, Technical Program Management, or a closely related function within a B2B SaaS or software company, operating successfully at Senior Manager or Director scope.

  • A demonstrated track record of designing, building, and scaling product operating models-not just running existing ones, but defining what great looks like and making it happen.

  • Experience leading and developing others through direct management, mentorship, or team capability building, with readiness to grow a team as the function scales.

  • Expertise in product planning frameworks and modern tooling, with the ability to set organizational standards, govern quality, and drive adoption.

  • Executive presence and communication skills, including the ability to turn complex operational data into clear, compelling narratives for CPTO and senior leadership audiences.

  • Exceptional cross-functional influence, with the ability to align Product, R&D, Engineering, Design, and GTM around shared priorities without relying on positional authority.

  • Strategic systems thinking and the judgment to design frameworks that enable teams while supporting organizational scale.

  • Strong change management capability and experience driving lasting adoption of new processes, tools, and ways of working across large, distributed teams.

  • Genuine fluency with AI tools and AI-enabled workflows, with a track record of embedding them to improve how product teams plan and operate.

  • Experience in cybersecurity, email security, or enterprise SaaS; exposure to organizational design, GTM coordination, product launches, or company-level operating models; and credentials such as CSPO, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or an MBA are advantageous.

The base salary range for this position is 140,000 - 210,000 CAD plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location with individual compensation also dependent on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills. Final offers will reflect these considerations and may vary accordingly.
