Position Summary:
Shape the future of clinical intelligence delivery for epocrates as a Senior Product Manager focused on editorial systems, content workflows, and user-facing experiences. In this role, you will define and drive the product roadmap for internal publishing infrastructure and external content experiences that support timely, trusted, and engaging clinical content at scale. You will partner closely with Content, Engineering, and Design to turn strategy into clear priorities, requirements, and delivery plans. This role is based in a remote work environment and reports to the Product Lead, Content Experiences.

About the Team:
The epocrates Product team supports the delivery of clinical content and point-of-care experiences used by healthcare professionals. The team works closely with editorial leaders, content contributors, engineering, design, and vendor partners to improve content operations, publishing workflows, and audience engagement. Their work spans internal tools, CMS capabilities, and user-facing product experiences across web and mobile surfaces. The team is focused on helping clinicians access reliable information efficiently and in context.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for clinical insights publishing infrastructure and content experiences that support epocrates' clinical intelligence offerings.

  • Partner with the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, content contributors, and vendor partners to translate content strategy into product priorities, requirements, and execution plans.

  • Collaborate with Content stakeholders to evaluate, scope, and recommend CMS and platform capabilities that support content workflows, publishing needs, and long-term flexibility.

  • Define and improve internal systems, tooling, and workflows that support content review, publication, and ongoing content management at scale.

  • Lead the development of user-facing content experiences and experiments that improve discovery, engagement, and repeat usage of the epocrates newsfeed and related surfaces.

  • Identify and validate new storytelling formats, delivery methods, and content experiences that better serve clinical users.

  • Work with Engineering and Design to translate strategy into product requirements, prioritize work, and guide execution from discovery through launch and iteration.

  • Define success metrics for initiatives, including newsfeed engagement, 30-day unique active users, and other indicators of content performance and user value.

  • Use AI tools to accelerate product work such as synthesizing research, drafting requirements, and exploring early concepts, while applying judgment to validate outputs before sharing or acting on them.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Help define how this function should be staffed over time, including capabilities needed across Product, Engineering, Design, and supporting functions.

  • Use qualitative and quantitative insights to inform prioritization, improve experiences, and support long-term product investment decisions.

  • Balance editorial goals, user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities to support sound product decisions in a cross-functional environment.

  • Support communication and alignment across internal stakeholders and external partners throughout planning and execution.

Expected Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • 6+ years of experience in product management, digital product development, or a related role.

  • Experience in media, digital publishing, newsroom environments, or content-driven consumer products.

  • Demonstrated ability to define product roadmaps and drive execution with Engineering and Design teams across complex, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Experience with content management systems, publishing workflows, editorial tooling, or platforms that support content operations at scale.

  • Strong understanding of user-facing product development, experimentation, and engagement strategy across mobile and web experiences.

  • Comfort operating across internal platform needs and external user experiences, with the ability to connect workflow decisions to audience outcomes.

  • Strong analytical skills, with experience defining KPIs, interpreting user behavior, and using data to guide prioritization and iteration.

  • Experience working closely with content teams, journalists, newsroom leadership, or content contributors to bring content strategies to life through product and platform development is preferred.

  • Experience in healthcare technology, digital health, clinical content, or products serving healthcare professionals is strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with AI tools and practical ways they can improve product management workflows, such as prototyping, documentation, research synthesis, or requirements development, is preferred.

Expected Compensation

$141,000 - $239,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevantknowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles,and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
