The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM's Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Human Resources Intern to join the 2026 Fall Internship class.

The Human Resources Intern will support the Global People Support team, which is responsible for managing global compensation and benefits, employment policies, global mobility, global information systems, and HR metrics and analytics. The Human Resources Operations team ensures seamless HR operations, supports mission-driven projects, and drives innovative solutions to enhance productivity and support IJM's people.

The Human Resources Intern will gain hands-on experience and relevant professional experience in the field. Tasks may include:

HR research;

Project management;

Process support; and

Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.

This position can be fully in-person or hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Global Director, HR Operations. The position requires 30-40 hours per week, primarily during the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm EST. As volunteers, interns and fellows receive a monthly stipend to help defray their expenses related toparticipatingin the internship program. This volunteer stipend is not an hourly wage, nor wages paid for services provided by the intern or fellow.

Fall internship program dates are September 14 - December 11, 2026.

General Qualifications and Required Skills

Bachelor's degree must be in progress for DC/Remote Internships and applicants need to have completed at leasttwoyears of undergraduate study.

Basic knowledge of HR operations and principles.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Experience with project and/or process management and enhancement preferred.
