Remote Process Simulation information

What are some common challenges faced when working as a Remote Process Simulation specialist, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Process Simulation specialists often encounter challenges related to effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and access to real-time data. Since the role involves modeling and optimizing industrial or manufacturing processes remotely, ensuring clear communication and timely feedback with on-site engineers is crucial. Utilizing collaborative software platforms and maintaining regular virtual meetings can help bridge the gap. Additionally, establishing secure and reliable remote connections to process data ensures accurate simulations and results.

What are remote process simulation jobs?

Remote process simulation jobs involve using computer software to model, analyze, and optimize real-world processes, such as manufacturing systems or chemical plants, from a remote location. Professionals in these roles use simulation tools to predict outcomes, test scenarios, and improve efficiency without physically interacting with the system. These jobs often require strong analytical skills, proficiency with simulation software, and the ability to communicate results to stakeholders. Remote process simulation positions are common in industries like engineering, manufacturing, and energy, allowing professionals to collaborate with teams across different locations.

What is the difference between Remote Process Simulation vs Remote Process Engineer?

Remote Process Simulation involves creating digital models to analyze and optimize processes remotely, focusing on simulation tools and data analysis. Remote Process Engineers design and improve actual processes, often requiring engineering expertise. Both roles may work remotely but differ in their core activities and skill requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Process Simulation Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Process Simulation Engineer, you need a strong background in chemical or process engineering, along with experience in modeling and simulation techniques. Proficiency with simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, or Simulink, as well as familiarity with remote collaboration tools, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for success in this role. These competencies enable accurate process modeling, effective teamwork, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex systems remotely.

Job description

The Medical Imaging Case Analyst is responsible for creating computer 3D models of coronary arteries from cardiac medical imaging (CT scans). These 3D coronary artery models show how narrowings and blockages impact blood flow. Creation of the model is done through the use of Heartflow developed software and processes.

In this role, you will work within an operations team to process individual models on a recurring basis.  A variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to: radiology, medical technicians, biological sciences, 3D animation, and/or CAD/visual inspection may qualify for this position. Due to the unique skills needed, employees will be trained on the specific software tools, CT image visualization process, and technology used/developed by Heartflow.

The work we do supports hospitals, physicians, and emergency room patients in countries around the world. Please be advised that this is a remote position. Training and subsequent work will be conducted from home; however, you must be prepared to report to the office (Must be located in Austin, TX*) with limited notice should business needs or technical issues arise. This position requires flexibility of work hours and a willingness to work non-traditional hours, including some holidays and weekends. This is a full-time, hourly compensated position.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Interpret CT imaging data, per regulated process, to generate custom 3D computer models that are used for fluid dynamic simulations and sent to the customer for interpretation of patient outcome.
  • Perform in-process visual inspections and verifications on image data quality and models while maintaining high levels of quality and efficiency.
  • Comfortable working in a highly regulated environment where all activities must be performed in compliance with the outlined procedures. Document all work appropriately.
  • Under minimal supervision, perform visual inspection, determining conformance to applicable work instructions and adhering to quality standards.
  • Comfortable providing consultations to team members on CT image interpretation (per process) and provide feedback as needed.
  • Provide testing and feedback for new product versions and process updates.
  • Highly motivated to produce high quality and process compliant work with prolonged focus.
  • Supportive teammate with a willingness to contribute to operations projects to improve future processes.
  • Ability to organize tasks and work independently on multiple projects, while achieving goals and deadlines.
  • Comfortable and proficient with computers.  Ability to distinguish user error from software bugs.
  • Open to receiving and providing constructive feedback on a daily basis, while using the feedback to improve.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Google Suite
  • Availability to work non-traditional hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Experience with medical imaging technologies is preferred.
Educational Requirements & Work Experience:
  • One of the following degrees is required, or relevant experience:
    • AA/AS degree or
    • BA/BS degree or
    • 3D Modeling or 3D Animation degree
Skills Needed
  • Visual Inspection skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • 3D computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Physical Demands of the Job

  • Office environment with prolonged hours of computer use
  • Good visual acuity
