Job description

Work arrangement: Remote within the United States, with potential international travel
Engagement: Contingent, part-time/on-call specialist
Anticipated compensation: $150-$300 per hour, depending on qualifications and assignment, or a negotiated fixed price by work package. $300 per hour is the maximum anticipated rate.
Opportunity
Axyde Analytics is assembling a multidisciplinary expert team for anticipated U.S. government-funded project-scoping assignments involving critical minerals and international infrastructure.
We seek senior professionals capable of independently challenging and validating technical, commercial, environmental, financial and implementation analyses before release to Government decision-makers.
Reviewers will evaluate whether conclusions are supported by evidence, calculations are reproducible, material risks are addressed, assumptions remain consistent across disciplines, and recommendations answer the authorized decision question.
Axyde does not expect one reviewer to cover every commodity or discipline. Applicants should identify the technical domains, minerals, processes and project stages in which they are qualified to provide independent review.
Review Disciplines Sought
We are recruiting independent reviewers covering one or more of the following:

Potential Responsibilities
Depending on the assignment and review discipline, selected experts may:
  • Independently evaluate whether the analysis answers the Government's decision question.
  • Verify that material conclusions are supported by traceable and credible evidence.
  • Challenge resource, recovery, capacity, cost, schedule, market and financing assumptions.
  • Review calculations, models, mass balances, sensitivities and supporting workpapers.
  • Assess whether units, currencies, dates, definitions and assumptions are internally consistent.
  • Trace conclusions vertically through calculations to source evidence.
  • Review assumptions horizontally across technical, commercial, financial, budget and recommendation sections.
  • Identify unsupported claims, hidden dependencies, omitted alternatives and premature precision.
  • Distinguish threshold failures, curable information gaps and manageable risks.
  • Evaluate whether downside, break-even and alternative cases are sufficient.
  • Review technology maturity, scale-up evidence and operating references.
  • Assess whether environmental, social, safety, resilience and closure risks are integrated into the recommendation.
  • Review feasibility-study, technical-assistance or pilot-project terms of reference.
  • Verify consistency among scope, methods, deliverables, schedule, qualifications and budget.
  • Review Government and stakeholder comments and verify their complete disposition.
  • Confirm that findings, limitations, conditions and reversal evidence are stated clearly.
  • Provide concise, actionable review comments tied to material decision risk.
  • Verify corrections before release.
  • Decline or disclose assignments when independence could reasonably be questioned.
  • Support expedited reviews when Government deadlines require compressed response.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
  • At least 12 years of directly relevant professional experience, with 15 or more years preferred.
  • A degree in geology, mining engineering, geotechnical engineering, mineral processing, metallurgy, chemical engineering, environmental science, finance, economics, infrastructure or another relevant discipline.
  • Recognized senior-level responsibility for identifiable mines, plants, studies, transactions, programs or technical decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing work prepared by other qualified professionals.
  • Ability to identify material analytical weaknesses without expanding work unnecessarily.
  • Ability to distinguish technical disagreement from factual, calculation, evidence or compliance defects.
  • Strong written and verbal English-language communication skills.
  • Ability to provide concise and constructive review comments under compressed schedules.
  • Independence from the work being reviewed and willingness to disclose potential conflicts.
  • Either U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent-resident status in the United States.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally when an assignment requires it.
  • No known employment, confidentiality, intellectual-property, noncompete or organizational-conflict restriction that would prevent participation.

Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist, Qualified Person, Chartered Professional, CFA, CPA or comparable credentials are advantageous but not mandatory when supported by exceptional relevant experience.

Engagement Conditions
This is a contingent opportunity supporting anticipated government-funded assignments. No employment, contract award, minimum workload or particular assignment is guaranteed.
Review assignments will depend on contract award, subject-matter fit, independence, qualifications, availability, eligibility, conflicts, travel requirements, mutually acceptable compensation and execution of appropriate employment or consulting documentation.
A reviewer will not be assigned to independently approve work the reviewer authored or materially developed.
