As a Mental Health Counselor, your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health statuses through thorough interviews and psychological evaluations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs and goals of each client based on their mental health diagnosis and personal circumstances.
• Implement therapeutic interventions and engage in both individual and group therapy sessions, providing clients with effective tools to manage their mental health challenges.
• Regularly monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, ensuring a holistic approach to care.
• Serve as a resource for clients by referring them to other healthcare providers, such as psychiatrists or primary care physicians, when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, treatments, and outcomes in accordance with organizational policies and legal standards.

This role primarily serves a diverse client population dealing with a myriad of mental health challenges, including but not limited to substance abuse, anxiety disorders, depression, and eating disorders. You will engage with patients from various backgrounds, making cultural competence paramount in understanding and addressing their unique experiences and needs. Your ability to connect with clients will directly influence their engagement in the therapeutic process, thereby impacting overall treatment outcomes.

• A master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Possession of a current, valid license such as LMFT, LMHC, or LICSW issued by the state of Washington.
• A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience in mental health counseling.
• A deep understanding of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment methods, including cultural responsiveness in therapeutic methodologies.
• Experience in delivering both individual and group therapy in a manner that is inclusive and utilizes diverse therapeutic techniques.
• Strong crisis intervention skills, with the ability to maintain composure in high-stress scenarios.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering rapport-building with diverse client bases.
• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems as well as standard computer applications.
• A commitment to confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical guidelines in clinical practice.

While the minimum qualifications emphasize essential skills and experiences, candidates with additional expertise related to trauma-informed care, specialized group therapy facilitation, or advanced crisis intervention techniques will be favorably regarded. Experience utilizing teletherapy methods will also be beneficial given the remote structure of this position.
