Job description

Introduction
The Department of Corrections is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of those in our care. Corrections employees have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others through careers in a variety of fields. The Department of Corrections , Bureau of Health Services is currently recruiting to fill a Dietitian - Clinical (Registered Dietitian) position. This position is based out of the Department of Corrections Central Office in Madison , WI.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive clinical nutrition program which includes: nutrition assessments, education, intervention, monitoring and evaluation. The Registered Dietitian also develops and provides nutrition education to patients as needed, and plans therapeutic and religious diets for the individuals housed at Department of Corrections institutions, centers and schools. This includes planning for persons in the care of the Dept. of Corrections who may have intellectual disabilities and may also present with mental health or behavior issues. The Dietitian will assist management with Food Service Programs as needed. The Dietitian will assist in providing education to Food Service and Health Care staff as needed.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 11-04 with a starting pay of $58344 to $85820 per year. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This position is not eligible for remote work.

Qualifications
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics-US.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a "certified dietitian" in the State of Wisconsin as provided under WI Statutes 448.70 through 448.94.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification required.
