What is a remote pre anesthesia testing RN?

Remote Pre Anesthesia Testing Registered Nurses (RNs) are specialized nurses who evaluate and prepare patients for anesthesia prior to surgical procedures, but do so virtually rather than in person. They review medical histories, assess risk factors, and coordinate necessary preoperative tests via telehealth platforms. Their goal is to ensure patients are medically cleared for anesthesia, helping to prevent complications and streamline the surgical process. This role allows for greater flexibility and access to care, particularly for patients in remote or underserved areas.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote pre anesthesia testing RN?

To thrive as a Remote Pre Anesthesia Testing RN, you need a solid background in perioperative nursing, patient assessment, and preoperative evaluation, typically supported by RN licensure and experience in surgical or anesthesia settings. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), telehealth platforms, and preoperative documentation systems is essential. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills help you effectively assess patients and collaborate with healthcare teams. These skills ensure safe, thorough preoperative screenings and patient preparation, which are vital for successful surgical outcomes in a remote setting.

What are the main challenges faced by a remote pre anesthesia testing RN, and how can they be addressed?

One of the main challenges for a Remote Pre Anesthesia Testing RN is ensuring thorough patient assessments without in-person interaction. This requires strong communication skills to gather accurate medical histories and identify potential anesthesia risks via telehealth platforms. Managing technology issues and coordinating effectively with surgical teams and anesthesiologists are also essential. Staying organized and proactive in following up with patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams helps overcome these hurdles and ensures patient safety.

Job description

Controls & Deployment Engineer

The Job

As a Controls & Deployment Engineer at Geek+, you'll sit at the intersection of automation engineering and field operations — owning both the technical controls work and the end-to-end deployment of our robotic systems at customer sites. You'll serve as a primary point of contact for project managers, supply chain specialists, service program managers, vendors, and customers, while also serving as the technical authority on PLC/controls integration across AMR deployments. The ideal candidate brings hands-on industrial controls experience, strong field judgment, and the drive to see complex robotic systems go live and perform.

Responsibilities

Deployment & Project Execution

  • Lead onsite implementation planning including scope, budget, schedule, and subcontracting, and integrate with the master project plan.
  • Manage implementation timelines by closely coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, particularly supply chain on delivery schedules.
  • Conduct hardware inspections, quality control checks, and pre-deployment testing to identify and resolve issues before go-live.
  • Prepare hardware environments for SIT, UAT, and Performance Testing and actively participate in testing phases.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor contractor teams on-site, setting clear expectations and monitoring performance and quality.

Controls & Automation Engineering

  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley/Studio 5000 and Siemens/TIA Portal) in support of AMR deployments.
  • Verify and troubleshoot I/O signals, wiring, signal flow, and field device integration independently.
  • Support safety control systems and safety device integration across projects, with particular focus on SkyCube/vertical lift applications.
  • Distinguish and resolve hardware, software, communication, and configuration-related issues during commissioning and field operations.
  • Provide remote controls support across multiple active sites simultaneously.

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and controls-related problems — both remotely and on-site — to minimize downtime and ensure optimal robot performance.
  • Document all issues, solutions, and best practices in a clear, organized manner; develop training materials and implementation guides.
  • Contribute insights on the latest advancements in AMR hardware and controls technology to strengthen Geek+'s competitive edge.
  • Develop and deliver training to customers, team members, and service partners.

Requirements

  • Experience in warehouse automation, manufacturing automation, or electrical/mechanical installation.
  • Proficiency with PLC systems — Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000) and/or Siemens (TIA Portal) hands-on experience required.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot control systems, field devices, and automation architectures.
  • Strong project coordination skills — able to manage implementation across client operations & IT teams and site contractors.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Quick learner; comfortable adapting to new technology and complex problems in the field.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with genuine enthusiasm for problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and online collaboration tools.
  • Ability to travel 80%+ (client sites Monday–Friday).
  • Must not require visa sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or 3–5 years of equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with safety control systems and safety devices.
  • HMI programming experience.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking concepts.
  • Experience with robotic systems or AMR platforms.
  • Bilingual (English and Mandarin) is a plus.
