Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

The Business Intelligence Developer designs, develops, tests, and supports enterprise reporting, analytics, and data visualization solutions that enable data-driven decision making across MHC. This position partners with clinical, operational, financial, and executive stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions.
The BI Developer works extensively with SQL Server, Data Warehouse, Power BI, SSRS, and related technologies to deliver trusted, accurate, and timely information throughout the organization. The position requires strong analytical thinking, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm


Position Location: Nashville, TN

  • 10% onsite work

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting, Analytics, and Solution Development

  • Partner with operational, clinical, financial, and executive stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document reporting requirements.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise reports, dashboards, KPIs, and analytical tools that support business decision-making.
  • Build and support Power BI reports, interactive dashboards, SSRS reports, and paginated reporting solutions.
  • Develop, tune, and maintain SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and related database objects used for reporting and analytics.
  • Assist with enhancements to enterprise data warehouse and reporting environments to improve usability, performance, and scalability.

Data Quality, Governance, and Documentation

  • Analyze source systems and business processes to identify data relationships, reporting needs, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support integration of reporting data from third-party applications and internal business systems.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance testing to confirm accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Troubleshoot reporting issues and identify root causes related to source systems, ETL processes, data quality, or reporting logic.
  • Maintain clear documentation, including business requirements, report specifications, data definitions, and technical notes.
  • Participate in data governance initiatives and follow organizational standards for data security, quality, and management.

Stakeholder Support and Communication

  • Present reporting solutions, findings, and recommendations clearly to end users, business partners, and leadership teams.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, gather feedback, and obtain stakeholder approval before production deployment.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for business units on reporting capabilities, metric definitions, and data interpretation.
  • Provide end-user support, guidance, and training for reporting and analytics platforms.

Technical Operations and Continuous Improvement

  • Follow established change management, version control, testing, and deployment procedures.
  • Monitor report and dashboard performance, and recommend improvements that increase reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Stay current on reporting, analytics, and data platform technologies, and recommend practical opportunities for organizational improvement.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, priorities, and support requests while meeting established deadlines.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Three or more years of experience developing SQL-based reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Two or more years of experience building reports, dashboards, or paginated reports using Microsoft Power BI and/or SSRS.
  • Proven ability to write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and related database objects.
  • Experience gathering requirements, translating business needs into reporting solutions, and working directly with stakeholders.
  • Experience validating, reconciling, and troubleshooting data across multiple systems or reporting environments.
