To thrive as a Power BI Developer (Contract), you need solid experience with data modeling, DAX, and visualization, typically backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, SQL, Azure services, and relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate are commonly expected.
