Position Description: The Automation Test Engineer assesses software quality through both automated and manual testing and works with developers, end users, and organizations to create test plans and test scripts. This position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Minimum/General Experience: 4 years of automation software testing experience

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent experience developing and executing automated test scripts
  • Excellent experience building test plans
  • Above average experience with the Agile methodology and sprint-based testing cycles
  • Above average experience identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira)
  • Above average experience creating and maintaining detailed test documentation and reports
  • Experience executing manual test scripts
  • Experience with Selenium Test
  • Experience working with developers and other members of a software development team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail skills
  • Experience supporting a federal government department
  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (preferred)

Acceptable Credentials

Tasks/activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviews and analyzes system specifications
  • Collaborates with Business Analysts, Test Engineers and Test Planners/Managers to develop effective test strategies, test plans, and procedures
  • Executes automated test cases and analyzes results
  • Evaluates product code according to specifications
  • Creates logs to document testing phases and defects and confirms that requirements are verified and validated
  • Reports bugs and errors to development teams
  • Helps troubleshoot issues
  • Conducts post-release/post-implementation testing
  • Works with cross-functional teams and ensures quality throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Configures necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing
  • Manages the defect database and/or logs

Compensation & Benefits: The annual projected pay range for this position is $76,559.55 - $85,066.17 with consideration being given to various factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
