Work Environment

This role offers the flexibility of remote work within an outpatient office setting. You will engage with clients through virtual platforms for in-home therapy sessions as well as occasional onsite meetings with family members at our outpatient facility. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individualized therapy sessions in clientsโ€™ homes or at our outpatient center, ensuring that sessions are tailored to the unique needs of each child and family.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on anger management, coping skills, and social skills, aiming to effectively diminish high-risk behaviors and promote positive interaction.
  • Work collaboratively with the Child Family Treatment Team and specialists from other disciplines to address behavioral challenges and to improve decision-making skills among caregivers.
  • Document all aspects of care accurately and submit required documentation, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, within specified timelines.
  • Regularly participate in team meetings to discuss case progress, share insights, and contribute recommendations for ongoing treatment strategies.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on children and teenagers with developmental and intellectual disabilities, along with their families. You will play an integral role in enhancing the well-being of these youth, providing therapeutic support that addresses both emotional and behavioral challenges in a multicultural setting. Bilingual capabilities in Spanish or Portuguese are highly desirable for effectively communicating with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field.
  • An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license.
  • A commitment to working a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours from 4-7 PM, with weekend availability considered a plus.
  • Experience providing tailored positive behavior support for children and adolescents.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle for commuting to clients' homes as needed.
  • A clear criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting, is required.
