Job description

Category Commercial Associate - Grocery Retail Analytics

We are seeking a temporary Category Commercial Associate to keep recurring category reporting accurate, timely, and consistent while supporting data-driven diagnostics and performance insight requests for a major grocery retail account. This person will translate evolving reporting requirements into dependable updates across retailer and syndicated data platforms, then turn the findings into clear Excel outputs and PowerPoint deliverables.

The best fit is a hands-on CPG category, shopper insights, customer analytics, or sales analytics professional who can step into an established monthly cadence quickly. Direct experience supporting Kroger and using 84.51° Market 6 or Stratum is strongly preferred; candidates with deep experience in comparable retailer loyalty, POS, and syndicated data tools will also be considered.

Location: Remote

Work Setting: 100% remote

Role Type: Contract

Contract Duration: 4 months with potential to extend or get foot in the door for potential full time role

Pay Rate: $48.79 per hour

Benefits

Eligible CRG contract employees may have access to medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days; weekly pay; direct deposit; referral bonus opportunities; and support from CRG’s recruiting and account management team. 401(k) eligibility begins after 12 months as a CRG employee. Eligibility, waiting periods, plan details, and employee costs will be confirmed during onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Complete monthly category and commercial reporting accurately and on schedule.
  • Translate reporting changes into updates within 84.51° Market 6, Stratum, Circana, or comparable platforms.
  • Validate source data, calculations, filters, reporting periods, product hierarchies, and final outputs.
  • Identify missing inputs, access problems, or blockers early and recommend practical solutions.
  • Perform ad hoc diagnostics involving category, brand, item, shopper, distribution, promotion, and sales performance.
  • Build and update Excel analyses and polished PowerPoint presentations.
  • Maintain consistent documentation, naming conventions, and version control.
  • Balance urgent requests against fixed monthly reporting commitments.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, SUMIFS, nested formulas, data validation, and large-data manipulation.
  • Strong PowerPoint and business-presentation skills.
  • Experience with Circana/IRI, NielsenIQ, 84.51°, Market 6, Stratum, dunnhumby, Numerator, SPINS, or comparable retailer and syndicated data.
  • Experience supporting category, customer, shopper, sales, or commercial reporting in CPG, retail, brokerage, or consumer analytics.
  • Strong deadline management, data-quality judgment, and analytical problem-solving.
  • Ability to translate complex datasets into concise business implications.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct Kroger support; recent 84.51° Market 6 or Stratum experience; experience combining retailer first-party data with Circana or NielsenIQ; and food, beverage, dairy, refrigerated, grocery, or broader CPG experience.
