Job description

Position: Human Resources Intern

Schedule: Full or Part Time (20-40 hours per week, unpaid internship)

Location: Washington, DC

The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join its Human Resources (HR) team as a Human Resources Intern. The intern will assist with various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement. Additionally, the intern will support the HR team with administrative tasks and help coordinate employee activities. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in HR operations within a dynamic, mission-driven organization.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with a keen interest in human resources, nonprofit management, and transatlantic policy. The candidate must be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting job openings, reviewing applications, and coordinating interviews;
  • Support the onboarding process for new employees and interns;
  • Help organize and coordinate employee engagement activities and events.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team, including maintaining employee files and updating HR systems;
  • Assist in the development and revision of HR policies and procedures;
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and assist with special HR projects;
  • Collaborate with the HR team on initiatives to enhance employee experience and organizational culture.
  • Qualifications

    Education:
  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Resources, Business Administration, International Relations, Political Science).
  • Minimum junior or senior standing in undergraduate studies, or enrollment in a graduate program.
  • Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (Teams).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Interest and Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated interest in human resources, nonprofit management, or organizational development.
  • Basic knowledge of HR principles and practices is a plus.
  • Professional Traits:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Team player with a proactive approach.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a fastpaced environment.
  • Availability:
  • Commitment to three months, with agreedupon hours per week, between 2040 hours.
  • Ability to work in CEPAโ€™s office or remotely, depending on role requirements.
