Position Overview

The Unity Point Mental Health Center is seeking a dedicated and passionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team as a full-time remote professional. This pivotal role involves providing mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, and continuous support to our diverse patient base. You will play a key part in ensuring continuity of care for patients struggling with various mental health challenges, guiding them through the complexities of their conditions and assisting with discharge planning when necessary.

Work Environment

This position is 100% remote, allowing for flexibility in your work-life balance while maintaining a full-time commitment. You will work predominantly Monday through Friday, with opportunities to work on weekends based on patient needs. Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting thorough mental health evaluations to assess the psychological needs of patients.
  • Implementing crisis interventions as necessary to stabilize patients in distress.
  • Determining appropriate levels of mental health care and coordinating with other health professionals for referrals as needed.
  • Leading group therapy sessions focused on mental health improvement and coping strategies.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and interactions in adherence to organizational protocols.
  • Participating in clinical supervision with your Clinical Supervisor at least once weekly to enhance your professional development.
  • Collaborating with external entities, such as the Department of Corrections, to ensure seamless access to care for involved patients.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary team discussions and case conferences to optimize patient care strategies.
  • Possibly conducting psychological testing and supervising interns or student volunteers in therapeutic practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will center around a diverse patient population, ranging from adolescents to adults experiencing various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. You will be integral in fostering a therapeutic space that promotes healing and recovery, prioritizing empathetic listening and individualized care strategies.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related field is essential.
  • A valid State license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain the necessary licenses as indicated.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with prior experience in crisis intervention, group therapy facilitation, or working within community health settings would be preferred. Familiarity with electronic health record systems and report management tools will also be beneficial in streamlining your workflow.

Compensation and Benefits
