Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

Your role as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor will encompass a range of vital duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and crisis interventions to assess and address patients' immediate needs.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to determine the appropriate disposition for patients, ensuring they receive suitable mental health care aligned with their individual needs.
  • Complete necessary clinical documentation and statistical reports to maintain accurate records of patient interactions and outcomes.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with the Department of Correction to secure access to care, appropriate housing, and effective treatment methods for patients involved with the legal system.
  • Lead group therapy sessions and other treatment activities in various mental health observation units.
  • Participate actively in clinical supervision sessions on a weekly basis to ensure ongoing professional development and adherence to best practices.
  • Take part in case conferences and contribute to treatment planning for patients, ensuring a holistic approach to their mental health needs.
  • May occasionally conduct psychological testing and supervise student interns or volunteers as part of their training experience.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele, including individuals coping with mental illness, trauma, and emotional distress. Our patient population includes adults undergoing significant life challenges, adolescents grappling with identity and behavioral issues, and individuals needing long-term therapeutic support. This role demands a compassionate approach to foster trust and encourage positive relationships with clients.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling.
  • A valid State license, such as Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), with the ability to obtain and maintain these credentials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with the following experience will be highly considered:

  • Direct experience in providing telehealth services or familiarity with telehealth platforms.
  • Previous work with specific populations, such as those involved with criminal justice or dual diagnosis patients.
  • Experience leading group sessions or workshops focusing on mental health support.
