A Day in the Life
The Senior Principal Clinical Analytics and Data Platform Lead provides strategic and business-facing technical leadership across the clinical research data and analytics ecosystem. This role is responsible for shaping clinical data platforms, analytics capabilities, and reporting solutions that support clinical trial execution, operational oversight, and portfolio decision-making. The individual will help ensure clinical data is governed, curated, and transformed into actionable insights for key stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
  • Lead the functional definition, evolution, and business adoption of clinical data and analytics platforms

  • Define and curate clinical data into scalable data products, semantic layers, and reporting structures

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the application of CDISC standards, including SDTM, ADaM, and USDM, within analytics and reporting environments

  • Partner with IT and enterprise architecture teams to support AWS-based clinical data and analytics solutions

  • Drive modernization of legacy systems, including data migration and interoperability efforts

  • Ensure solutions align with security, privacy, validation, and regulatory compliance requirements

  • Oversee the development of clinical operational dashboards, reports, and analytics capabilities

  • Establish standards for data quality, metric consistency, and semantic alignment

  • Enable self-service analytics through curated datasets, clear data contracts, and reusable reporting assets

  • Translate business needs into scalable data and analytics capabilities for clinical stakeholders

  • Support pilots, validation activities, rollouts, and adoption of new platform capabilities

  • Contribute to vendor evaluation, solution oversight, and investment planning

  • Influence data governance practices with a focus on quality, traceability, and reuse

  • Provide thought leadership and practical guidance on validation strategy, documentation, and inspection readiness

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of experience in clinical research data and analytics (or 8+ years with an advanced degree)

  • Deep applied knowledge of CDISC standards, including SDTM, ADaM, and USDM

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms, preferably AWS, in regulated environments

Nice to Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience

  • Strong understanding of how clinical data supports trial execution, operational monitoring, and decision-making

  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with IT and architecture teams while maintaining accountability for business outcomes

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience modernizing legacy clinical data and reporting environments

  • Familiarity with SQL-based data environments and business intelligence tools such as SQL Server and Power BI

  • Working knowledge of ICH, GCP, FDA, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements

  • Experience leading platform transformation or technology enablement initiatives

  • Prior experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or CRO environments

  • Experience operating as a senior principal-level individual contributor with both strategic and hands-on responsibilities

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$166,400.00 - $249,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
