In a large business, a payroll manager oversees a payroll processor, whose responsibilities include working to process and issue checks after taking steps to collect benefit payments, tax withholdings, and other dues. A payroll processor or payroll manager can work for one employer or multiple employers on a contract basis.

Senior Accountant

MAVRX LLC

Lafayette, CO โ€ข Remote

$80K - $110K/yr

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, PTO

Job description

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary
  • Dental insurance
  • Flexible schedule
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Vision insurance

Mavrx, LLC provides survey and mapping services to the energy, oil, and gas industry. Founded by veterans of the industry, Mavrx combines deep technical expertise with a level of service that exceeds client expectations, built on a culture where people are valued both for what they contribute and for how they're compensated for it. This is a full-time, hands-on Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager role, offering genuine ownership over a growing company's financial infrastructure.
Role Summary
This is a genuinely hands-on, in-the-trenches accounting role, not a supervisory position. You'll be the one doing the bookkeeping, entering the transactions, and building the systems personally, ready to step into real ownership of a growing company's financial infrastructure. You'll take Mavrx off spreadsheet-based tracking, build clean systems and processes from the ground up with your own hands, and be the person accountable for getting it right. This role comes with genuine room to grow as the company and the finance function mature.
Responsibilities
  • Personally execute day-to-day bookkeeping: accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense tracking, and reconciliations
  • Lead and directly do the work of transitioning off Smartsheet-based tracking into proper accounting software
  • Establish clean, consistent processes for close, AR/AP aging, and reporting
  • Execute payroll processing accurately and on schedule across multiple states, ensuring compliance with state-specific requirements
  • Identify and resolve classification and compliance questions as they arise
  • Take ownership of the accuracy and integrity of Mavrx's books and financial processes, down to the transaction level
Required Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally including some exposure to systems implementation or process-building, not just maintaining existing systems
  • Genuinely comfortable with hands-on, detailed work; this role is not a fit for someone looking to delegate the bookkeeping rather than do it
  • Demonstrated readiness for more ownership; may not have held an "Accounting Manager" title yet, but has done the work
  • Confident working independently and making sound judgment calls without close oversight
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  •  CPA license
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $80,000 – $110,000 per year depending on experience
  • Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans
  • Paid sick leave and other leave benefits provided in accordance with applicable law
Work Environment
  • Fully remote, home-office-based position; no in-office or on-site work required
  • Extended computer use and sedentary work
  • Occasional coordination with field personnel and project teams via remote collaboration tools
MAVRX, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. We do not request salary history; compensation is set per the posted range based on experience and qualifications.
