Niyam is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer to join our team in support of our work with a federal client. We offer competitive compensation and benefits. This role will protect computer systems from viruses and hackers. They are responsible for the safekeeping of records and data from outside attackers and invaders. The ISSO is responsible for IT security and will provide support to client for the continued development, implementation and monitoring of the Environmental Management System. The candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the EMS information security system, including researching, testing, training and implementing programs designed to safeguard sensitive information from any possible breaches.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Manage risk and security programs, identifying vulnerabilities, implementing countermeasures, and ensuring an acceptable level of organizational risk.
  • Lead the information security incident management process to prevent, detect, and resolve security breaches and violations.
  • Oversee configuration management for security software, hardware, and firmware, assessing the security impact of system changes.
  • Ensure compliance with all client, DHS, and federal information security and privacy policies, including NIST 800-53 controls and certification/accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain and secure the client's Environmental Management System (EMS) Portal, ensuring compliance with IT security standards and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Conduct annual reviews of the client's EMS program, ISO 14001 alignment, and environmental targets, recommending updates and continuous improvement actions.
  • Support environmental risk assessments, monitoring, and reporting, including annual management review meetings and emergency response coordination.
  • Develop and maintain all required system documentation, reports, and user manuals, ensuring proper communication of security status and operational changes to the client.

Requirements:
  • US Citizen with ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in an IT related field
  • 8+ years of experience with Information Technology (IT) required, with at least three years of experience in IT security including Certification and Accreditation (C&A) experience.
  • Must have the ability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous civilian personnel and industry partners.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Possess a high degree of originality, creativity, initiative requiring minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
