What are some common challenges faced by remote part-time editors, and how can they be addressed?

Remote part-time editors often face challenges such as managing time effectively across multiple projects, adapting to different clients’ editorial styles, and maintaining clear communication with team members who may be in various time zones. To address these, it’s helpful to use project management tools, set clear expectations with clients, and schedule regular check-ins with collaborators. Building a structured daily routine and staying organized with deadlines can also help ensure high-quality work and reduce stress.

What does a Remote Part Time Editor do?

A Remote Part Time Editor reviews, corrects, and improves written content for clarity, grammar, and style while working from a location outside the traditional office and on a part-time schedule. Their duties may include editing articles, books, web content, or other documents to ensure accuracy and readability. Typically, they collaborate with writers and other editors online, using digital tools to provide feedback and track changes. This role allows for flexible working hours and the ability to balance editing work with other commitments.

Job description

The Brief

Do you dream in jump cuts, color grades and motion graphics? Does your brain automatically

think of the perfect beat drop for a transition? Then we’d like to talk.

Satori is looking for a part-time Video Editor to join our creative crew on a per-project basis.

With raw footage and storyboards from our team in hand, you’ll use your editing prowess to

create dynamic, polished stories that capture the spirit of our clients.

You’ll collaborate closely with our creative team to edit videos that don’t just look awesome

but captivate the audience—whether it’s a social media reel to promote a client’s service, a

heartfelt piece for a nonprofit or an educational video on a technical topic.

Since we are a busy agency, there’ll be quick turnarounds, evolving storylines and plenty of

chances to flex your editing muscles, all while keeping projects on-brand, on-message and on deadline.

Remote-ish (but mostly in office): You’ll spend some days editing from your creative cave, but the magic happens

when we all get together. Expect to be in our West Houston headquarters for brainstorms, up-close collaboration and “holy sh*t, that’s brilliant” moments

Position Responsibilities:

• Edit a variety of content — social media reels, campaign videos, interviews, event

recaps and more — with speed, precision and creativity.

• Incorporate motion graphics, sound design and color correction to enhance storytelling

and visual impact.

• Collaborate with project managers, copywriters and designers to ensure videos align

with client goals and brand voice.

• Manage and organize project files using consistent naming and storage conventions.

• Deliver final videos optimized for multiple platforms (web, social, broadcast, etc.).

• Stay current on editing trends, tools and techniques to keep Satori’s work fresh and

relevant.

• Jump into creative brainstorms when needed and bring your best ideas.

• Handle multiple projects with shifting priorities while meeting deadlines (because,

again, that’s agency life, baby)

Position Must-Haves

• 3–5 years of professional video editing experience, preferably in an agency or

marketing environment

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (non-negotiable — this is your creative

playground)

• Working knowledge of After Effects for text animation, transitions and light compositing

• Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve (bonus if you can make those colors sing)

• Experience using Adobe Audition (or similar) for balancing, cleaning and sweetening

audio

• A strong reel that shows range, including style, story and pacing

• A desire to be an enthusiastic collaborator who thrives in creative chaos, working

alongside designers, copywriters and strategists to bring ideas to life (if your vibe is “I’ll

just worry about my part,” this ain’t your gig)

• Ability to edit for multiple formats (vertical, square, widescreen) and deliver optimized

exports across platforms

• Understanding of compression, resolution and color space and why they matter to final

delivery

• Knowledge of accessibility standards, including ADA-compliant captioning, graphics

and audio descriptions

• Familiarity with Section 508 compliance for government and public-sector clients

• Ability to work independently and deliver client-ready work without handholding

• Flexibility to work as needed, including the occasional night/weekend

• Excellent communication and responsiveness — Slack, email, text, carrier pigeon,

whatever

• A sense of humor, collaborative energy and passion for telling killer stories on screen

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an office setting, but travel is a possibility. You may be subject to sitting,

standing or walking for extended periods of time (especially if this helps the creative juices

flow). You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (or be able to convince someone to do it for you)
