Job description

Build the future, spark innovation and align your career with purpose.

McKinstry is innovating the waste and climate harm out of the built environment and creating lasting impact. Together, we're building a thriving planet.

Buildings are a leading contributor to the climate crisis, generating nearly 40% of total global energy-related carbon emissions. We're making a lasting impact on our industry and within our communities by addressing the climate, affordability and equity crises through:

  • renewables and energy services
  • engineering and design
  • construction and facility services

To get where we're going, we need big thinkers, problem solvers and collaborative mindsets. Does that sound like you?

The Opportunity with McKinstry

The Technical Product Manager, AI Delivery (TPM) is the delivery engine that turns AI strategy into shipped tools, measurable outcomes, and production-ready capabilities for the business. The TPM is responsible for owning the intake pipeline mechanics, use case scoping, success metric definition and the product lifecycle from pilot approval to production deployment. This role serves the AI program by translating approved use cases into specific, buildable product requirements that the AI engineering team can execute without ambiguity and by managing the pilot lifecycle so that Directors can focus on strategy and stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own sprint methodology execution across all active AI tools. This includes running planning, standups, sprint reviews and retrospectives and ensuring that every pilot in the active portfolio has a clear scope, a measurable uccess criterion, and a named decision owner before it starts.

  • Translates approved use cases from the business into specific product requirements such as user stories, acceptance criteria, data requirements, integration specifications and AI evaluation metrics.

  • Manages the pilot intake pipeline mechanics including the intake form, evaluation process, scoring and the documentation that supports the decision.

  • Owns the product lifecycle from pilot approval to production deployment; tracking pilot progress against success criteria, flagging scope creep and timeline risk managing the handoff from pilot to production.

  • Maintains the program's delivery metrics and pilot portfolio dashboard to include active pilots by Division, success rate, time from intake to decision, time from approval to first user and net ROI for closed pilots to ensure current data.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry:

  • 4+ years of technical program management with demonstrated ability to own a product lifecycle from requirements to shipped software.

  • AEC industry experience is a plus, especially in construction, engineering or technical project delivery.

  • CSPO, PMP or SAFe Product Owner credentials strongly preferred.

  • Able to write product requirements including user stories, acceptance criteria, data requirements and API specifications that engineering teams can build from without a follow-up meeting.

  • Hands-on experience with agile or sprint-based delivery methodology; has run sprint planning, retrospectives and backlog grooming as the product owner or delivery lead, not just as a participant .

  • Working familiarity with AI or data product development; understands the difference between a traditional software product and an AI-powered product well enough to write appropriate acceptance criteria and evaluation metrics for AI outputs.

  • Strong analytical skills; can define a success metric for a pilot before it starts, track it during execution, and calculate net ROI at close with enough rigor to defend the number in an executive review.

  • Comfortable working across multiple workstreams simultaneously while managing active pilots in two or three Divisions at once without losing track of scope, timeline or decision owners.

  • Strong written communication skills.
