• Conduct thorough psychological evaluations to assess the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning of patients referred from our hospice programs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive assessments, utilizing evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
• Provide psychotherapy sessions utilizing remote platforms, involving individuals, couples, and families in therapy to address complex mental health issues arising in hospice settings.
• Administer psychological assessments and interpret test results to assist in diagnosis and ongoing treatment planning.
• Collaborate with a range of healthcare professionals, including social workers and medical staff, to ensure coordinated care that respects the unique challenges faced by hospice patients.
• Offer crisis intervention services for patients experiencing acute distress, ensuring immediate support and appropriate referral paths as needed.
• Maintain precise documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progression in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Engage in continuous professional development, staying updated with the latest research in psychological practices relevant to hospice and palliative care.
• Supervise and mentor psychology interns and students during their clinical placements, fostering the next generation of mental health professionals.
• Participate actively in case conferences and team meetings to discuss patient progress and participate in interdisciplinary collaboration.

This role primarily focuses on a diverse population of hospice patients, including individuals diagnosed with terminal illnesses and their families. Your work will involve addressing complex grief and bereavement issues, anxiety, depression, and other psychological challenges faced by patients coping with life-limiting conditions. You will provide support to various age groups, including children who may be dealing with loss and adults navigating their end-of-life journey.

• A Doctoral degree (PhD/PsyD) in Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as a psychologist in the state of California.
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or related mental health settings.
• In-depth knowledge of psychological theories, psycho-diagnostic methods, and evidence-based clinical interventions.
• Experience with remote therapy practices, including familiarity with telehealth platforms and digital communication.
• Demonstrated proficiency in psychological assessments and treatment modalities tailored to the unique needs of end-of-life care patients.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for building effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
