Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.
Member Engineering continuously evolves the Netflix experience to delight, attract, and retain our members. Our team is responsible for building novel product features to help members discover and connect with stories they'll love, on Netflix's flagship TV application.
We're passionate about UI, ergonomics, performance, and high-quality developer experiences.
We celebrate diversity of identities, ideas, backgrounds, and experiences. We believe our best work stems from fostering safety & trust and enabling each of us to be our authentic selves. We selflessly use our unique strengths to support one another and help each other grow.
We have a distributed team with teammates across the US. While some of us are in person, the team is committed to ensuring remote work is a collaborative and productive experience for everyone, regardless of where you commit code.
Roles
We are hiring for multiple roles across our TV teams, which span product innovation and the architecture and capabilities powering product features.
Product Engineer
Product engineers deliver novel product features on the consumer-facing Netflix experiences to help members discover and connect with stories they'll love. We partner with designers and product managers to define and refine concepts that will shape the future of entertainment. Our work delights millions of members worldwide on hundreds of different devices, from streaming sticks to smart TVs to Web browsers.
Core Engineer
Core engineers are responsible for building client and UI capabilities and shepherding the architecture of our member apps. Our teams accelerate innovation to enable our product teams to deliver rich, performant, reliable, accessible, and high-quality member experiences. We sit at the intersection of Client Infrastructure and Product and we integrate and adopt the core technologies, frameworks, capabilities, and building blocks that enable our product teams to deliver thrilling experiences to our members.
Ads Engineer
Ads engineers are responsible for developing and delivering the platform for innovative ad experiences to unlock significant revenue growth. A key initiative is a flexible framework that enables customizable, engaging creative formats, which involves evolving our underlying architecture. We also support server-side ad delivery in streaming content, which today inserts targeted messages into video and will expand to support additional interactive and video formats.
Who You Are
  • Experience designing, building, and shipping consumer-facing software.
  • Experience leading projects and communicating with multiple cross-functional partners.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Able to design, architect, debug, test, and create well-documented code.
  • Able to identify and componentize common abstractions with an eye for performance and stability of large-scale systems.
  • Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • You strive to elevate the knowledge and skills of yourself and others in a way that fosters an inclusive, collaborative environment.

What Sets You Apart
  • You're passionate about writing elegantly designed, maintainable, performant software.
  • You enjoy pushing the boundaries of what technology can do and exploring uncharted waters.
  • You love to empower other engineers and strive to find ways to accelerate innovation (Core).
  • You are curious about how members use our application and eager to build product features that entertain the world (Product).
  • Colleagues appreciate the unique perspectives and balanced views you bring to collaborations.
  • You value the perspective of others when identifying solutions.
  • You know there is rarely one 'right' solution, and you make thoughtful trade-offs.
  • You understand that our goal is to solve problems, and a language, framework, or library is a means to an end.
  • You have a strong sense of independence, bias towards action, and inclination for collaboration.

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $388,000.00 - $558,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.
Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off. Full-time salaried employees are immediately entitled to flexible time off. See more details about our Benefits here.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
