UPMC is looking for an Application Delivery Engineer Senior to join their team. This position will be a fully remote role.

Description
Support Information Assurance Services efforts to develop secure systems and networks through the identification and use of automated tools, execution of security processes, procedures and reporting. Work with Data Stewards and Application Support representatives to ensure delivery of highly available and secure applications.
Responsibilities:

  • Assists with Auditing exercises. Develops and executes plan to remediate shortfalls. Evaluate application and infrastructure designs for compliance with hardening standards, monitoring and compliance, incident response, and disaster recovery requirements.
  • Participates in 24x7 on call rotation and supports Application Delivery changes and issues outside of standard business hours as needed.
  • Demonstrate a high level functional understanding of network routing and switching technology for the purpose of solving network connectivity problems and implementing network configurations. Uses sniffers and other advance tools to troubleshoot and isolate source of application issues at the packet level.
  • Escalates and communicates issues as appropriate to management and stakeholders. Promote/teach IT security awareness, basics and literacy, and training to IT and non-IT employees commensurate with their responsibilities. Proactively apprises management of issues effecting project status and offer solutions to solve the issues.
  • Seeks to improve overall service to our customers by analyzing past events & issues and looks for improvement opportunities. Improves security and efficiency of applications delivery through automation and the use of technical capabilities.
  • Coach and mentor team members on managing and troubleshooting the Application Delivery architecture and supporting systems. Assists and mentors others involved with project planning and execution. Offers constructive criticism and contributes in a positive manner.

Qualifications

Typically has a 4 year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering and/or has acquired 5+ years of core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience.

Intuitively grasps familiar, stable system performance situations. Ability to independently respond to unfamiliar, undefined, unexpected, or unstable situations with the professionally prescribed standard response.

Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel both internally and externally; e.g. leadership, executives, application owners, and vendors.

Strong working knowledge of:

o Network principles best practices and standards

o Packet Analysis

o Web Application Firewalls and Next Generation Firewalls

o Linux and Windows Operating Systems

o Security Frameworks

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
F5-Certified Big-IP Administrator or equivalent preferred.
