This position is up to 2 years with the option of extension. The client is in   Phoenix, AZ.   
 
Tentative Shift Start Time 9:00 AM Tentative Shift End Time 5:00 PM in the Arizonia Time Zone. 
 
Position Description The Arizona State Retirement System is seeking an experienced Systems/Network Engineer within its Technology Services Division. The position duties include: 
  • Working closely with other IT teams including Information Security, Service Desk, Quality Assurance, Production Support and product vendors to plan, deploy and sustain a stable, highly performing and available infrastructure and application environment. 
  • Ownership/oversight and hands-on planning, deployment and operational upkeep of ASRS’ infrastructure and applications. 
  • Proactive monitoring, identification and resolution of the most complex infrastructure and application problems. 
  • Promoting and advancing team efficiencies and capabilities through DevOps/automation improvements. 

Additionally and as needed: 
  • Maintain timely, accurate and complete documentation and desk procedures for systems and team functions. 
  •  Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities. 

Administration and management of: 
  • Multi-tiered COTS applications 
  • Public-cloud services 
  • Physical and virtual servers 
  • Mid-tier storage arrays and SAN 
  • Security appliances 
  • Active directory and group policy 
  • Secure remote access, remote desktop/VDI 
  • Adherence to Incident, Problem, Configuration and Change Management processes and controls. 
  • Perform IT Service Management functions including creating tickets, communicating directly with users/IT staff, fielding incident escalations, performing troubleshooting operations and thoroughly documenting progress/status. 

Skills Required 
  • Through understanding of multi-tiered application architecture. 
  • Technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems. 
  • Technical knowledge of Linux Server operating systems. • 
  • Ability to automate operational tasks and routines using PowerShell and/or other automation platforms/methods. 
  • Proven customer service skills and ability to work professionally and effectively with all levels of staff. 
  • Proven organizational skills. 
  • Demonstrated problem-resolution skills and analytical/critical thinking abilities. 
  • Ability to work within established operational policies and guidelines. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the agency. 
  • Experience working in a 24x7, mission-critical enterprise public cloud and on-premises data center environment.

Experience Required:
  • One or more relevant industry-accepted certifications related to the following technologies:

  •  BS in Computer/Information Systems and/or five years of experience as a server/network administrator in a medium-large enterprise.
