Job description

Job Title:  Senior Oracle Developer (PL/SQL, APEX, Oracle Forms) 

Location:  Phoenix, Arizona (On-site, near i17 & Peoria) 

**Hybrid/Remote work 1-2 days a week available after the first 6 months of employment.** 

Salary Range:  $120,000 - $130,000  Position Type:  Full-Time 

Position Overview: 

Chas Roberts is seeking a versatile and highly accountable Sr. Oracle Developer to serve as the primary developer for Oracle-based applications across all functional departments. This individual will take ownership of designing, upgrading, and maintaining Oracle applications and tangential technologies while ensuring optimal performance, seamless collaboration with end users, and strict adherence to best practices. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in PL/SQL coding, Oracle APEX, and Oracle Forms, as well as possess exceptional interpersonal and documentation skills to support a diverse organizational environment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Core Development & Maintenance: 

  • Serve as the sole programmer supporting multiple departments by developing, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle-based applications. 

  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries for Oracle databases. 

  • Design, develop, and implement user-friendly applications in Oracle APEX to meet diverse departmental needs. 

  • Support, troubleshoot, and manage Oracle Forms-based systems to ensure continued functionality and integration locally and with 3rd party integrations. 

  • Build, develop, and support core business websites, pages, and system integrations. 

Upgrades & Migrations: 

  • Lead the planning, testing, and execution of Oracle software patches and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive migration plans for any system upgrades or system changes needed. 

  • Migrate existing Oracle Forms Processes to Oracle APEX for increased sustainability. 

Integrations: 

  • Integrating software and multiple data sources using different methodologies 

  • Develop and maintain web API’s, SFTP, point-to-point integrations, Pub & Sub, etc. 

Testing & Validation: 

  • Implement rigorous testing protocols to validate processes and code prior to deployment. 

  • Ensure thorough testing and quality assurance for all upgrades, new developments, and changes to existing systems. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate system functionality and compliance with user requirements. 

Collaboration & Accountability: 

  • Act as the key point of contact for programming needs across departments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of solutions. 

  • Collaborate directly with end users and department leaders to gather requirements, provide support, and deliver high-quality results. 

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, proactively managing expectations and project timelines. 

  • Communicate progress, blockers, and timeliness for assigned tasks to IT leadership and related department leaders. 

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: 

  • Document existing and newly developed code, workflows, and visual designs to ensure long-term maintainability and understanding. 

  • Maintain up-to-date records of all upgrades, changes, and testing processes. 

  • Provide technical insights and guidance to other teams or contractors when required. 

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Identify opportunities for optimizing system performance, improving user interfaces, improving user security, improving data security, and enhancing workflows. 

  • Evaluates long-term sustainability and modernizes systems as needed 

  • Stay informed about the latest Oracle technologies and trends to implement cutting-edge solutions.

Required Qualifications: 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 

Experience: 

  • Strong proficiency in SQL development/coding and Oracle database programming. 

  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining applications using Oracle APEX. 

  • 5-10 years PL/SQL and APEX production environments. 

  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle APEX 21+, including Universal Theme, APEX authentication schemes, REST Data Sources, and APEX plug-in development. 

  • Advanced PL/SQL proficiency, including bulk operations, ref cursors, dynamic SQL, autonomous transactions, pipelined functions, and package-level architecture. 

  • 5+ years of software development experience across multiple environments.  

  • 3+ years developing and maintaining Oracle Forms in a production environment. 

  • Proficiency in Oracle Reports; ability to create, maintain, and troubleshoot reports in production environments (required). 

  • Expertise in software development lifecycle processes, process automation, and integrations. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Expertise in SQL, PL/SQL, and database-driven application development. 

  • Proficiency with Oracle databases and performance tuning. 

  • Familiarity with version control systems and debugging methodology.  

  • Familiarity with modern web development practices (HTML, JavaScript, PHP, WordPress, +) 

Soft Skills: 

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration with non-technical end users and technical teams. 

  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize tasks effectively in a high-accountability environment. 

Other Requirements: 

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following best practices for testing and validation. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in technical documentation. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in developing Oracle Forms. 

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle database upgrades and migrations. 

  • Oracle database administration skills and experience. 

  • Experience with middleware technologies, specifically Oracle WebLogic. 

  • Experience integrating legacy systems with modern application frameworks. 

  • Windows Server OS knowledge and familiarity. 

  • SQL Server & MySQL knowledge and familiarity. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) 

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and migrations from on-premises to cloud
