Job description

Oracle DBA Secret Clearance Core Work Schedule: Saturday - Tuesday, 7AM - 5PM This position is fully remote; however, candidates must reside in the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area (DMV) to accommodate occasional onsite meetings, training, or customer support activities at the Washington, DC, customer location in Sterling, VA. The number of days the DBA's works on-site in Washington, DC, or Sterling, VA, is subject to change based on government/program requirements (for example, surge support might require the individual to be in the office five days per week). Job Description: Seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals that provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting consular applications and services globally. The DBA will implement and optimize the computerized database systems that support the CA’s ability to function daily and, therefore, enable its mission. Required Qualifications: • U.S. citizenship and minimum active SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance. • Hands-on experience with full-life cycle implementation of Oracle 19c RDBMS and 19c/21c hub Oracle GoldenGate for production environments. • Experience upgrading Oracle RDBMS from 11g to 19c as well as the Transparent Data Encryption. • Experience writing custom monitoring reports for 12c OEM. • Strong communication skills to communicate systems proposals to management and customers and provide systems diagnoses and resolution for current systems. • Strong organization skills to prioritize work, balance, and lead complex projects. • Leadership skills to guide and mentor less experienced team members. • 7 years’ experience as an Oracle DBA or Oracle-related area, including at least 5 years’ experience as an Oracle 11g or 12c DBA applying knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Patching, AND/OR Security. • Experience writing custom monitoring reports for 12c OEM. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with Oracle RDBMS upgrade from 11g/12c to 19c and Containerization. • Experience working with Oracle Cloud Computing (private or public). • Experiences with an Oracle Engineered System, such as Exadata and Sun Super Cluster. • Experience as an operational DB Ops lead. Education: Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience or a Master’s degree and 6 years of experience or an Associate’s degree and 10 years of experience or a High School diploma/equivalent and 12 years of experience. Roles and Responsibilities: • Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases. • Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases. • Review database designs and integration of systems; provide backup recovery; and recommend enhancements. • Maintain security and integrity controls. • Manage day-to-day enterprise security hygiene, rapidly executing remediations for high-severity CVEs and actively exploited KEVs to protect core systems and applications. • Formulate policies, procedures, and standards related to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization. • Develop stored procedures and triggers. • Administer a variety of database systems, such as Oracle RDBMS, MS SQL Server, Postgres DB, and other Database Management Systems (DBMS). • Develop and enforce database administration and user standards and procedures; audit, modify, and amend data in systems using SQL commands. • Oversee the scheduling of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple SQL servers and remote sites. • Help database designers/information system analysts develop and create SQL and Web-based databases and database systems. • Review technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by staff. • Create and maintain high-level reporting systems using products, such as Oracle OEM BI reports; research and implement new database and online technology. • Apply solid DBA skills to Oracle RAC and Data Guard installation, configuration, and troubleshooting production issues. • Apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques to investigate and resolve complex system requirements and issues.
