Saint Louis Counseling LLC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team, focusing on providing essential mental health services to incarcerated individuals in Syracuse, New York. Your responsibilities as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor will include:

• Conducting thorough mental health evaluations and crisis interventions for incarcerated clients.
• Carrying out follow-up assessments and coordinating the disposition of patients to ensure they receive appropriate and timely mental health care.
• Documenting all clinical interactions meticulously to maintain accurate patient records and adhere to reporting requirements.
• Collaborating closely with correctional facility staff to ensure patients have ongoing access to necessary mental health services.
• Leading group therapy sessions on mental health observation units, fostering a supportive atmosphere where clients can share and learn from each other.
• Engaging in regular clinical supervision with a Clinical Supervisor, contributing to both your professional development and the overall quality of care provided.
• Participating in medical rounds and case conferences for patients, discussing treatment plans and potential interventions tailored to each individual's needs.
• Conducting psychological testing as required, interpreting results in the context of developing effective treatment strategies.
• Supervising and mentoring social work interns or student volunteers, contributing to the training and growth of future professionals.
• Performing other responsibilities as assigned by supervisory staff to further our goals and initiatives.

This role primarily involves working with incarcerated individuals who may present with a variety of mental health challenges, including behavioral issues, substance use disorders, and severe mental illnesses. Emphasizing an empathetic approach, you will strive to foster a rapport that encourages clients to engage actively in their treatment plans, promoting stability and rehabilitation.

The ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications:

• A valid license as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.
• A Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 5 years of full-time, paid professional experience in a behavioral health setting providing direct service to clients.

While the minimum qualifications are essential, preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience conducting both assessments and treatment planning for individuals with complex behavioral issues.
• A background in working with clients who have histories of substance abuse or severe mental health conditions.
• Previous inpatient or correctional facility experience, which will help facilitate seamless care coordination within this unique environment.

The salary range for this position is competitive, with a yearly compensation ranging from USD 115,000 to 130,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
