Job description

The Basics
We are seeking a highly skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in Systems Administration to join the IT Engineering team at Tanium. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing our hybrid systems infrastructure to ensure the availability, security, and maintenance of our systems.
This position follows the Company's hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA.

  • Act as member of IT Infrastructure Engineering team with a focus on systems management and project delivery
  • Perform infrastructure deployment, management, planning, scaling, scheduling, etc.
  • Drive and enhance automation wherever possible in the name of efficiency, scalability, and consistency
  • Work with a variety of key business groups to architect and implement technology and solutions
  • Be accountable for ensuring all technology is documented, deployed and configured securely and in alignment with best practices
  • Leverage AI and automation tools extensively for daily tasks, integrations and operation and management of IT and business services
  • Follow the change management process for system configuration, installations, and maintenance
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to resolve operational challenges and streamline workflows
  • Participate in projects related to iInfrastructure, business execution, security, etc
  • Solve incidents and administrative tasks related to infrastructure services and other escalations from end-user support.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
  • Participate in on-call rotations
  • Be a team player who is adaptive, self-motivated, and solution-oriented

We're looking for someone with
4+ years as a Systems Administrator, Operations Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Cloud Engineer or similar, with relevant enterprise experience in the following areas:
  • Strong background with Linux, Windows and VMware(or similar) systems administration and deployment.
  • Direct administration experience with Cloud Computing & Networking Environments. Azure (preferred), AWS, and GCP.
  • Experience with Bash, Python and PowerShell scripting
  • Experience with TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with backups, high availability and overall infrastructure resiliency for cloud and on-premises technology required
  • Familiarity with monitoring and management of enterprise systems running on physical and cloud infrastructure required
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code toolsets - e.g. Terraform, Vault.
  • Experience with Configuration Management toolsets - Ansible (Preferred).
  • Experience with SAN storage arrays and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to estimate and manage cloud usage costs and identify and operationalize cost control mechanisms preferred
  • Familiarity with CI tools - GitHub Actions (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Docker and other container technologies (Kubernetes, Amazon ECS/EKS)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, GRC, Product Engineering and other teams to drive architectural decisions for cloud and on-premises technologies

What you'll get
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $113,000 to $173,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.
In addition to an annual base salary, team members will receive equity awards and a generous benefits package consisting of medical, dental and vision plan, family planning benefits, health savings account, flexible spending account, transportation savings account, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, life, accident and disability coverage, business travel accident insurance, employee assistance programs, disability insurance, and other well-being benefits.
