A remote oncology nurse is an RN who provides telehealth services over the internet to cancer patients. The responsibilities of a remote oncology nurse include creating individualized care plans for each patient; assisting the patient to find supportive resources regarding their treatment and personal care needs; providing virtual patient education to help them understand their diagnosis and treatment, and helping a patient’s family learn about treatment expectations. Other duties include recording the patient’s progress, charting the patient’s response to medications and other treatments, and helping patients find rehabilitative and palliative care when necessary.
