Job description

Join a high-performing accounting team at FourPoint Energy, where collaboration, accountability, and ownership create value across the organization. This role supports the monthly revenue close and regulatory reporting cycle by ensuring accurate revenue accounting, timely filings and payments, and precise distribution of wellhead sales to interest owners. The Revenue and Regulatory Accounting Analyst partners cross-functionally with Land Administration, Marketing, and Operations to support operational and strategic business decisions. FourPoint Energy is based in Denver, CO. This position offers flexibility with in-office, hybrid, or fully remote. Depending on qualifications and experience, this position may be filled at the Senior level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support all monthly regulatory filings, payments, and related deliverables.
  • Prepare, analyze, and manage complex regulatory payable reconciliations; proactively identify, research, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process regulatory payment runs to clear appropriate balances and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
  • Drive efficiencies by developing and enhancing processes for managing and analyzing large data sets; recommend and implement improvements.
  • Allocate wellhead sales to interest owners for current month activity and prior period adjustments with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Coordinate and execute the monthly revenue payment run; respond to and resolve items impacting owner distributions.
  • Maintain payout balances and ensure necessary prior period adjustments are identified, supported, and booked timely.
  • Set up and maintain revenue agreements and shipper contracts in the accounting system to properly reflect marketing arrangements.
  • Calculate, record, and reconcile monthly revenue accrual entries; prepare journal entries and process sales adjustments as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue variance analyses.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, resolve outstanding items, and ensure timely correction of issues.
  • Partner with Land Administration, Marketing, and Operations to validate volumes, pricing, and ownership/DOI impacts and to resolve revenue and regulatory discrepancies.
  • Prepare and organize revenue and regulatory support documentation for internal/external audit requests and ad hoc reporting.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for owner inquiries, delivering responsive, accurate, and professional support.
Education, Skills and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of revenue-related oil and gas accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., PivotTables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS; ability to work with large datasets).
  • Proficiency with oil and gas accounting software (Enertia a plus).
  • Experience with federal/tribal lands reporting requirements and Utah assets a plus.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the following areas:
    • Oil and gas revenue distributions and owner relations
    • Division of interest (DOI) and ownership concepts
    • Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
    • Oil and gas contracts, pricing, and revenue set-up concepts
    • Account reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced close environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to work at computer for long periods of time.
Environmental Conditions
  • Works indoors in office environment.
