Job description

GFT is seeking a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) Technician to join our Construction Services Team in Baltimore! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Baltimore or Owings Mills office.

What you'll be challenged to do:
The Junior ROV Technician/Inspector at GFT will support the operation, maintenance, and deployment of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in controlled water tank environments for water utility inspections and maintenance. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on technical skills and a willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • ROV Setup & Deployment: Prepare, assemble, and deploy ROV systems in water tanks for inspection and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in Operations: Support ROV piloting and monitoring during inspection activities under supervision.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Conduct routine checks, assist with repairs, and maintain accurate service logs.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow GFT's health and safety protocols during all operations.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel overnight for projects within the region.
  • Other pertinent duties as assigned.

What you will bring to our firm:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in electronics, mechanical systems, or robotics preferred.
  • Strong deductive problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must reside in or near Baltimore, MD.
  • Willingness to climb and work at heights in excess of 100'
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel overnight as needed.

What we prefer you bring:
  • Basic knowledge of ROV systems, including setup and deployment.
  • Ability to climb and work on water tank environments.
  • Basic understanding of corrosion and industrial protective coating failures and application(s)
  • Experience with inspection tools and data logging.
  • Training and experience in safety and confined space work are a plus (OSHA 10, 30, CSE).
  • AMPP CIP Level 1 Basic Coating Inspector Certification (Preferred)

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $45,000 - $50,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
