Job description

The Medical Nutrition Spc - Remote is responsible for all aspects of enteral nutrition care for the home tube fed patient and other medical nutrition related activities.
JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Recognizes and respects patient rights during the provision of care or services and conducting business relationships with patients and the public in an ethical manner
  • Conducts nutritional assessments by reviewing medical records, physician orders, and laboratory results
  • Provides nutrition education and counseling via phone when applicable
  • Collaborates remotely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Ensures compliance with payer, Medicare/Medicaid, and contract requirements
  • Participates in on-going education, including in-services, training, and other activities to maintain and improve individual competence
  • Obtains, utilizes, and updates patient information in a confidential and secure manner for utilization in patient care applications
  • Verifies enteral and oral nutrition orders for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Maintains productivity standards while meeting documentation quality expectations
  • Collaborates with nutritional vendors
  • Coordinates with referral sources to obtain missing clinical documentation
  • Supports customer service representatives with clinical questions related to enteral nutrition
  • Responsible for On-call holiday rotations

Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and/or Dietetics from an accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics, Required

Work Experience
  • One or more years of RD/RDN experience, Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • calculate figures and amounts such as commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail communications

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN), Required
  • Licensed Dietitian for the geographical area where manages patients (LD or LDN), Required
