Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Wound Care Registered Nurse to provide expert medical reviews for the Veterans Administration. This is a remote, case-based role where you will leverage your clinical expertise to conduct objective reviews of wound care cases, contributing to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a practicing professional to earn supplemental income with a flexible schedule.

    • A one-time flat rate of $150 will be paid upon obtaining the VA PIV card.
    • Reviewer time is not compensated for training.
    • Cases are compensated at a flat rate per case and per case type.
      • Audits FRRs (Facility Requested Reviews) - $95 / case
      • MAOs (Medical Advisory Opinions) - $225 / case
  • Work Schedule: Maximum flexibility. Work remotely and manage your caseload around your clinical schedule.

  • Impactful Work: Play a critical role in improving healthcare outcomes for veterans. All reviews are protected, and reviewers are not required to testify in court.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensure: Must hold a current, non-restricted RN license in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of active clinical practice in wound care and 2 years of recent experience in the specialty. Must be actively practicing with hospital privileges and working a minimum of 20 clinical hours per month onsite.
  • Technical Skills: Must be board-certified and hold an active RN wound care certificate.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and provide objective, well-reasoned written opinions.

    • Quality Management Reviews
    • Standardized set of questions
    • Was the standard of care timely and appropriate?
    • approx 1 hr. to complete
  • Management Other Cases:
    • non-standardized set of questions
    • cases can be initiated for any number of performance improvement indicators
    • approx. 1 hr. to complete
  • Medical Advisory Opinions:
    • non-standardized set of questions by attorneys
    • typically initiated by patient complaints and malpractice concerns
    • approx. 2-4 4 hrs. to complete
  • All VA case reviews are protected, and reviewers will not be asked to present in court.
