A reputable utility company is currently hiring for a Utility Interconnection Project Manager with Renewable Energy (preferred) experience. The UIPM will support the growth of clean energy resources across the company's electric system. This role is part of the Clean Energy organization and serves as the primary point of coordination for customers seeking to connect renewable generation and distributed energy resources (DERs) to the company's grid. This role will support the Distributed Solar and Storage Request for Proposal (DSS RFP) initiatives and develop interconnection agreements with the customers. This role will manage Tier 3 (500-kilowatt) renewable energy interconnection projects.

This position requires strong project management skills, utility interconnection experience, and a working knowledge of distribution systems and renewable energy technologies.

Pay - $45/hr. - $50/hr. (Possibility for higher compensation depending on relevant qualifications, industry, tool, and tenure)

Location - The UIPM can sit at any local site in Bellingham, Bellevue, Kent, Puyallup, or Olympia (Hybrid; Will be 50% On-site and 50% Remote)

Contract Duration - 12-Month Contract (High Possibility for Extension or Conversion)

(Responsibilities)

  • The Project Manager will be responsible for managing complex renewable energy interconnection projects from application through execution of interconnection agreements.
  • Projects may include battery energy storage systems (BESS), community solar installations, commercial solar facilities, microgrids, and other non-fossil fuel generation resources.
  • The Project Manager partners with customers, developers, consultants, and multiple internal engineering disciplines to evaluate proposed interconnections and facilitate successful project completion.

(Qualification Requirements)

  • ***Must be residing in the state of WA and be comfortable submitting to a drug test (including THC screening) upon onboarding.***
  • Minimum of 3 years of utilities experience, with a strong preference for utility interconnection experience (distribution, projection, system planning, and/or substation experience is a plus).
  • Renewable Energy knowledge/experience is a huge plus.
  • Experience with SAP and/or PowerClerk is a huge plus.
  • Experience interpreting and applying utility interconnection requirements, tariffs, standards, and technical criteria.
  • Understanding of distribution system operations, including feeder capacity, protection coordination, voltage regulation, and power quality considerations.
  • Familiarity with substation equipment and design considerations, such as transformers, breakers, relays, and SCADA integration.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications or fiber infrastructure that supports utility operations, protection schemes, and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Experience working across engineering, operations, planning, and external customer groups to move projects through utility review processes.
  • Ability to identify technical risks early and develop practical solutions to keep projects moving.
