Job description

FMS is seeking an experienced bilingual (English/Spanish) federal audit professional to serve as the IAF Auditor.

This individual will provide part-time technical oversight of IAF's grant audit program, oversee independent in-country audit firms, review audit reports for compliance with federal auditing standards, provide audit guidance and recommendations to IAF leadership, and support the Foundation's overall audit oversight program.

Position

One Part-Time Auditor

  • Estimated 16 hours per week
  • Not to exceed 32 hours every two weeks
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Available to meet with IAF during mutually agreed upon times
  • Remote work authorized (IAF-issued laptop and secure VPN access provided)

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written)
  • Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience auditing and/or supervising financial audits of government contractors in compliance with U.S. Government policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
  • Experience applying GAGAS (Yellow Book) standards
  • Experience applying AICPA auditing standards
  • Strong knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200, Subparts B–E in an international or cross-border environment
  • Experience reviewing federal grant audits for compliance with applicable standards
  • Experience providing technical guidance and oversight to independent/in-country audit firms
  • Experience advising management on audit findings, risks, corrective actions, and audit-related matters
  • Experience supporting or responding to Office of Inspector General (OIG) audits
  • Ability to read and translate narrative information submitted in Spanish by in-country auditors and grantees
  • Experience using AI, or willingness to learn and apply AI tools to improve efficiencies while maintaining audit quality
  • Experience as an auditor within a U.S. Government agency is preferred (not required)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serving as IAF's technical audit subject matter expert
  • Providing technical guidance to independent/in-country audit firms
  • Reviewing audit reports and determining whether they meet IAF, GAGAS, and AICPA requirements
  • Accepting or rejecting audit reports within GovGrants
  • Recommending grants for audit each fiscal year
  • Supporting the planning and continuity of audit contracts
  • Preparing audit instructions and communicating updated audit guidance
  • Advising IAF leadership on audit issues, risks, trends, and recommendations
  • Supporting Office of Inspector General (OIG) audits
  • Following up on corrective actions resulting from audit findings
  • Serving as a non-voting member of the Grants Oversight Committee (GOC)
  • Preparing GOC documentation and tracking follow-up activities
  • Maintaining the Audit Dashboard and audit tracking information
  • Preparing biannual reports on audit trends and recurring issues
  • Providing weekly status reports to the Project Officer
  • Participating in required meetings with IAF staff, Foundation Representatives, the COR, OIG, and agency leadership, as needed
