Job description

ABOUT APPLY
APPLY is the Agentic Customer Experience (ACx) partner for the world's most ambitious consumer and entertainment brands. We bring together deep domain expertise across Retail, CPG, Sports, and Media with AI-native delivery capability, designing and delivering agentic solutions that turn CX vision into commercial reality. We are the partner of choice for brands like Arc'teryx, NFL, Lululemon, and Kraft Heinz. For more information, visit applydigital.com.
LOCATION: APPLY is hybrid/remote-friendly. The preferred candidate should be based in Latin America, preferably working in hours that align to PT (Pacific Timezone) or ET (Eastern Timezone). Candidates located in Santiago, Chile are able to work out of our Santiago office as remote/hybrid employees. Candidates located outside of Santiago, Chile will be fully remote employees.
THE ROLE:
As a Senior Salesforce Commerce Cloud Engineer, you own the hands-on delivery of SFCC implementations - translating architectural and design direction into production-grade storefront code, integrations, and platform configuration. You bring deep technical craft to every workstream you touch, and you actively contribute to the quality and consistency of the broader engineering team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • SFCC Delivery Ownership: You own the "how" of the Commerce Cloud build - SFRA architecture, cartridge structure, controllers, templates (ISML), pipelines, and Business Manager configuration - from detailed technical design through deployment and into production support.
  • Platform-Level Design: You are the guardian of the storefront's technical architecture. You make and document decisions around cartridge layering, custom site preferences, data extensions, and the integration surface - keeping them coherent as the solution evolves.
  • Engineering Rigor & Quality: You enforce production-grade SFCC standards: accessibility, performance, SEO hygiene, mobile-first rendering, and thorough unit and integration testing. You write code that survives in production and is maintainable by others.
  • Integration Contract: You define and protect the API/data contracts between SFCC and third-party services - payments, search/merchandising, inventory, BNPL, CMS, reviews, and others depending on the client. You coordinate non-SFCC layers, ensuring changes stay backward-compatible and well-documented.
  • Proactive Risk Management: You surface dependencies, scope creep, and technical debt before they block delivery - especially coupling between cartridge customizations, service integrations, and data model decisions - and bring solutions, not just problems.
  • Communication & Alignment: You translate SFCC platform constraints (cartridge limits, quota limits, deployment realities) into plain language for non-technical PMs and client stakeholders, and keep engineering, PM, and design aligned on decisions and status.

REQUIREMENTS:
Proven Salesforce Commerce Cloud Experience: A significant track record delivering complex SFCC projects and supporting them in production. You can take a vague goal and turn it into shipped, stable storefront code.
Deep SFCC Platform Expertise (hands-on):
  • SFRA architecture: cartridge layering, controllers, ISML templates, models, and client-side scripts.
  • Business Manager: catalog/product management, promotions, site preferences, data extensions, and custom objects.
  • SFCC scripting: dw.system, dw.catalog, dw.order, dw.web and service framework usage.
  • Storefront pipelines and quota-aware design (CPU time, script file size, API call quotas).
  • Deployment & ALM: code version management, cartridge upload pipelines, sandbox/staging/production promotion strategies.
  • Integration surface: SFCC Service Framework and OCAPI (Shop API and Data API).

Integration & Commerce Stack Awareness: Sufficient fluency across the commerce stack - payments (e.g. Adyen, Stripe), search/merchandising (e.g. Algolia, Salesforce Predictive Sort), inventory, BNPL, and CMS/review integrations - to own contracts and reason about end-to-end flows.
Multi-Workstream & Multi-Party Delivery: Comfortable running structured build work and live operational/support contexts in parallel. At ease working within delivery models involving agency, client, and external dev/design partners.
Communication: Fluent English (written and verbal). You can explain technical tradeoffs to a non-technical PM as clearly as you discuss architecture with another engineer.
NICE TO HAVE:
  • Salesforce B2C Commerce Developer certification (or B2C Architect track).
  • Familiarity with headless/SCAPI or PWA Kit implementations - useful context, though not the primary focus of this engagement.
  • Exposure to adjacent Salesforce clouds (Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud) as integration targets.
  • Node.js / React experience.
  • CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar).
