The Opportunity

RCG is seeking a Senior Network Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure & Zero Trust to support a federal government customer by managing and securing enterprise network infrastructure and cloud networking environments. This is a fully remote position supporting mission-critical network operations, cloud connectivity, and Zero Trust security initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess deep experience administering enterprise network infrastructure, cloud networking, firewalls, and Zero Trust technologies. This individual will work closely with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure the availability, performance, and security of enterprise networking services while responding to operational issues in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Although this position is fully remote, candidates must be available to support occasional after-hours maintenance windows and emergency network incidents as operational needs require.


What You'll Do

Network Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and maintain the customer's Cloudflare environment and enterprise Zero Trust networking solutions.
  • Administer core network infrastructure supporting mission-critical federal operations.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, and network security appliances.
  • Perform firmware and software upgrades on Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA), routers, and switches in accordance with cybersecurity guidance.
  • Utilize enterprise Network Access Control (NAC) solutions to manage and secure network access.
  • Monitor enterprise network health using approved network monitoring tools and respond proactively to performance issues.

Cloud Networking & Security

  • Manage network security groups, routing tables, and firewall policies across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Administer Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, and cloud networking components.
  • Support secure cloud connectivity and Zero Trust architecture initiatives.
  • Manage IP access policies, including blocking and unblocking IP addresses based on cybersecurity directives.
  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to suspicious network activity in coordination with cybersecurity teams.

Operations & Support

  • Respond to network outages and infrastructure incidents in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Troubleshoot complex network connectivity, routing, switching, firewall, and cloud networking issues.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud engineering, and application teams to support enterprise networking initiatives.
  • Participate in infrastructure modernization and continuous service improvement efforts.
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve network reliability, scalability, performance, and security.

What We're Looking For

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 8 years of enterprise network engineering experience.
  • MUST RESIDE WITHIN 50 MILES OF CLIENT SITE
  • Experience administering enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Hands-on experience managing Cloudflare environments and Zero Trust security technologies.
  • Experience supporting Cisco networking equipment, including Cisco ASA firewalls.
  • Experience performing firmware upgrades and lifecycle management for network devices.
  • Experience utilizing Network Access Control (NAC) and enterprise network monitoring tools.
  • Experience administering cloud networking within AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience managing:
    • Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs)
    • Azure Virtual Networks (VNets)
    • Subnets
    • Network Security Groups (NSGs)
    • Routing tables
    • Firewall policies
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing, switching, enterprise firewalls, and Zero Trust networking principles.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network issues in large enterprise environments.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting federal government enterprise networks.
  • Experience supporting Trusted Internet Connection Access Provider (TICAP) environments.
  • Experience supporting N-Wave network infrastructure.
  • Experience implementing or supporting Zero Trust architectures.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification.
  • AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer, or similar cloud networking certifications.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud networking environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management practices.

Work Environment

  • Full-time remote position.
  • Standard business hours with participation in an on-call rotation as required.
  • Occasional after-hours support may be required during maintenance windows or network outages.
