Work Environment:NGL offers a flexible work environment where employees can work fully remote, hybrid or onsite at our Madison, Wis. office. We support virtual working arrangements in certain states outside of WI.


A Day in the Life:

The Senior Cloud Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing cloud infrastructure, managing cloud security, and optimizing resource utilization. This position requires expertise in cloud-native technologies with a primary focus on the AWS platform and is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex cloud-based issues. The Senior Cloud Engineer works in a collaborative environment and provides coaching and mentoring to other team members. Work is performed under minimal supervision in this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure and solutions.
  • Analyze and define business requirements to determine specifications and standards.
  • Deploy and oversee implementation and integration of web-based applications, ensuring that appropriate information security standards are met.
  • Manage cloud security and maintain reports, logs, or other records of security audits.
  • Monitor system uptime and performance, troubleshooting and resolving errors.
  • Stay informed of emerging cloud technologies and evaluate value to the organization's operations.
  • Serve as a partner to development teams, providing guidance on secure coding, architecture and sharing previous technical experience to provide oversight.
  • Lead disaster recovery and regularly test recovery procedures to ensure business continuity across all cloud-based systems.
  • Work with governance teams to implement automated processes and standard methodologies for Cloud policies, roles, and identity.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring across the team.
  • Participate in the selection of cloud hosting patterns and implement consumable platforms with security and resiliency best practices built in through IaC and DevOps strategies.


Essential to Your Success:

Ability to handle complex issues and problems.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of cloud computing.
Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring.
Experience with one or more cloud computing platforms.
Experience in system administration
Good understanding of security management solutions
Strong collaborator, resourceful, adaptable with ability to follow-through
High proficiency with cloud-compatible monitoring tools and logging solutions:

    • AWS
    • Azure
    • VMware (VMC, VCDR)
    • ForgeRock
    • CloudFormation
    • Terraform


    Education Requirements:

    Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information preferred

    Certifications in higher-level cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect) required.

    Years of Experience:

    A minimum of five years of Cloud experience required.

    A minimum of three years of AWS cloud platform experience required.

    A minimum of two years of experience working with infrastructure as code (IAC) preferred.

    Experience working in an Agile environment preferred.
