Leak Survey Technician (Entry-Level)

Since 1933, Heath Consultants has been a trusted leader in protecting communities through natural gas safety services. We are hiring motivated individuals to join our team as Leak Survey Technicians. No prior experience is required — we provide paid training and industry-recognized certifications.

If you’re dependable, enjoy working outdoors, and want a stable career with purpose, this could be a great fit.

These are full time positions, with occasional overtime and weekend work. No experience? No problem. We provide paid training with an instructor.

Position Overview

As a Leak Survey Technician, you play a vital role in protecting life, property, and the environment. You will inspect natural gas systems, detect potential leaks using advanced equipment, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Your work directly supports public safety and environmental protection in the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do:

Protect Communities

  • Inspect natural gas distribution systems
  • Conduct leak surveys using specialized detection equipment
  • Accurately document findings and complete compliance reports
  • Follow strict safety protocols and federal/local regulations
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and members of the public
  • Your daily work helps prevent hazardous situations and ensures regulatory compliance.

Work Outdoors & Stay Active

This role is ideal for individuals who prefer being active rather than sitting behind a desk. You will:

  • Walk approximately 4–7 miles per day
  • Bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Work in various weather conditions
  • Remain on your feet for extended periods

Operate Specialized Equipment

You will use industry-leading gas detection technology to identify potential leaks. Heath provides comprehensive paid training and certifications to ensure you are fully prepared and confident in the field.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to pass a DOT drug screen and background check
  • The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain, to bend and stoop, and to lift heavy items is essential
  • Ability to walk 4-7 miles per day in varying types of terrain in all types of weather
  • Strong reliability and accountability
  • Customer service experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to use Simple Hand Tools
  • Work well within a group as well as individually
  • Ability to use and understand utility maps
  • Proficient at using technology (smartphone, tablet)
