Position: Senior Interior Designer
Location: Royal Oak, Michigan

Salary: $85,000 $110,000 DOE
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to lead interior design efforts across healthcare, institutional, and commercial projects. This role manages interior scope from early programming through construction administration and FF&E installation.
The ideal candidate will combine strong design creativity with technical expertise and healthcare interior experience, ensuring functional, code-compliant, and high-quality interior environments.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead interior design development (space planning, concepts, finish selection)
  • Produce full interior construction documents (plans, elevations, details, schedules)
  • Develop FF&E packages including furniture, fixtures, and equipment coordination
  • Prepare finish boards, material palettes, and client presentations
  • Coordinate interior design with architectural and engineering disciplines
  • Apply healthcare design standards including FGI, ADA, and infection control principles
  • Manage vendor coordination, product research, and material selections
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and finish samples
  • Conduct site visits and review installations during construction
  • Mentor junior interior designers and ensure quality control
Requirements

  • NCIDQ certification required
  • 7+ years interior design experience
  • Strong Revit and AutoCAD proficiency
  • Experience in healthcare or institutional projects (2+ years preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of FGI, ADA, and building codes
  • Experience with FF&E specification and finish selection
  • Strong presentation and client communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SketchUp or 3ds Max
  • Healthcare interior design experience (hospitals, clinics, etc.)
  • Strong experience in evidence-based design (EBD)
  • Vendor coordination and large-scale FF&E management experience
Work Environment

Collaborative AEC environment working with architects, engineers, consultants, and vendors. Includes office-based design work, client meetings, and site visits for construction and finish reviews.
